Here’s a fine example of my favorite car in the world. A 1995 Porsche 928 GTS. This particular car is almost certainly one of the lowest mileage examples in the country, and is priced accordingly. As you may know, only 406 928 GTSs were sold in North America between 1992 and 1995. The 1992 model year cars were sold as 1993s, thereby dividing 1993 production into early 1992 928s, and late (real 1993) 928s. For 1995, only 77 GTSs were imported, 47 of which were automatics. This car is one of those 47, and judging by the mileage and color combination, it is certainly one of the most desirable.

This is the highest-priced automatic GTS I’ve ever seen up for sale, but the mileage and condition tell me that it’s a worthy car. Now, I know that some people will dismiss the car as worthless given that it’s fitted with an automatic…whatever. In the hierarchy of 928s, any GTS model commands a premium over all the rest, and late-series GTSs (late 1994 and 1995 models) command a further premium. Obviously condition, options, lower mileage, etc. further determine the value.
As far as condition goes, this car has a few noticeable imperfections from the pictures. The carpet appears to have a little discoloration in a few spots, the windows have been tinted and the original window decals have been removed, the blue cap for the jump post cover is missing, and the driver’s side door a/c gasket is missing. These are pretty insignificant on a 21 year old car, and should be easily correctable.
Given the volatility of the stock market so far this year, and the ever-increasing odds of the U.S. economy sinking into a recession, this GTS is certainly priced optimistically. However, if a collector must have a low mileage, black 1995 928 GTS, this one should certainly suffice. When considering the rarity of the 928 GTS, and the fact that it hails from what many consider to be the “golden-era†of Porsche’s, the price may be justifiable.

Oh, no, here is one priced more than 10% higher: http://chequeredflag.com/1994-Porsche-928/Used-Car/MarinaDelRey-CA/6860837/Details.aspx
Hi JA, how is that one 10% higher? $85K < $120K.
Andy – your description shows $76500. That’s how. Also shows mileage in the 30k range. But the ad itself shows $120k and 11k miles.
Ah, I see what you’re saying. My bad. I thought he was referring to 10% higher than this ’95.
I do love that ’94. Condition appears pretty comparable to this ’95, despite the higher mileage. Brownie points for being a one-owner car. Most GTS’s have changed hands several times by this point.
