2001 BMW 740i Sport

Over a decade on, the E38 7 series is still revered for being a pinnacle of design for the BMW brand. Sure, they may be a bit behind in terms of technology, but there’s no denying that this was a beautiful, if somewhat conservative, design. One of my favorites of the E38 range was the short wheelbase 740i Sport. For those that need a refresher, the Sport package included Shadowline exterior trim, sport seats, 18″ M-Parallel alloy wheels hooked up to a tauter suspension and a higher final drive ratio for the 5-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. This 740i Sport for sale in Georgia is wearing a rare hue for a 7 series, Imola Red. This is certainly a bold choice for a large, executive sedan.

My love for oddball cars has me drawn to the Imola Red 740i Sport. It’s almost like installing a graffiti exhibit right outside of The Lourve. As crass as it may seem at first, it works. This car has covered a good amount of miles, but it looks to have been well looked after. There are no rips or cracks in the leather and the front center armrest is a nice touch, removing the receptacle for the large car phone that no one would have a use for these days. Pushing $10,000 is not too far out of the question for these late E38s, especially considering it comes with a cache of records. Considering the mileage, however, a bit of negotiation wouldn’t be out of the question.
