In the world of five-door haulers, two of my favorites are the E34 and E39 5 series Tourings. If you didn’t go the Audi Quattro route, these were the estates for the sporting person, with available manual transmissions and smooth inline-6 and V8 powerplants. This 525i Touring for sale in Miami comes not only with a full service but the almighty third pedal, sure to grab the attention of parents out there who shy away from the thought of a minivan or SUV.

This is your chance to get a very hard to find E39 2002 BMW 525iT luxury sport wagon for BELOW WHOLESALE!! This is a CarFax certified 1-owner Florida vehicle that has ONLY 105k dealer maintained, garage kept miles! THAT’S ONLY 8,300 MILES PER YEAR!! The exterior is finished in a stunning Topaz Blue Metallic that is shiny and in great overall condition and complimented with an Black leather interior that shows only very minimal wear. This E39 Class features a powerful 2.5L Inline-6 capable of 184hp and is mated to the seamless 5-speed manual transmission that truly brings this German power-plant to life!! This motor is quick on its feet but still gets a very efficient 17/24MPG!
The interior of the vehicle is very clean and well appointed with dual 10-way power seats w/front leg extensions. The rear seat passengers are not left out and kept very comfortable with plenty of leg and head room. The driver is treated to a leather trimmed tilt / telescoping M-Sport steering wheel with controls to the 10-speaker Premium audio system, On-board computer and cruise control right at their fingertips! The vehicle is equipped with numerous safety and convenience features that include but are not limited to: M-Sport Package, Dual Zone Climate Control, Rear A/C, Factory Rear Cargo Cover and Keyless Entry. The vehicle is also equipped with 4 wheel ABS, Front side impact airbags, Fog lamps, Sporty 17†alloy wheels and factory alarm system. This 525iT has a matching set of Goodyear Eagle GT 235/45/17 tires that have about 55% remaining all the way around and a virtually unused full size spare in the trunk. Additionally, the car will come with (2) master/remote key and a complete set of books.
Overall, the car looks fantastic! This is a 1 owner car and it certainly shows!! It’s been garage kept, dealer serviced and it’s CarFax certified with no accidets or odometer discrepancies! On the exterior there are only a few minor issues: There are a few chips in the paint and tree sap residue on the hood, the left quarter panel and rear bumper have several scratches and scuff marks, the right front door has light scratches and the roof has a medium sized dent. Please keep in mind that although the car shows above average, it is a 12 year old vehicle that does show average swirl marks & minor imperfections through out. Please keep in mind that these are very close up pictures and the spots may not be as large as they may appear. On the interior: it looks great with no out of the ordinary issues to mention other than some peeling on the left rear door panel. As far as the electronics, everything is in working order; the A/C is ice cold, the windows, mirrors, sunroof and radio all work as they should and there are no pixels burned out in the dash or radio!!
Mechanically: the car needs nothing!! We just had an EXTENSIVE scope of maintenance done to the car by a local BMW specialist that includes:
Castrol Synthetic oil + filter change
Replaced the complete Front brakes (pads + rotors)
Replaced A/C Compressor + Drier
Replaced the Radiator + Coolant Flush
Replaced Water Pump + Thermostat
Installed a new Serpentine Belt + Idler Pulley & Tensioner Pulley + Damper
Replaced both Engine Mounts
Replaced the Valve Cover Gasket
Installed new NGK Spark Plugs
Replaced 2 Breather Hoses
Installed new Struts for Tailgate & Hatch Window
Installed new Engine Air + Cabin Air & Fuel Filters
Installed new Wiper Blades front & rear
Repaired pixels in Radio Display
Installed new OEM all-weather Floor Mats
Had the vehicle FULLY DeatiledAll in, here was a total of $3,250+ worth of work JUST done to the car!! As you can see, we have done a significant amount of maintenance to this 525 allowing the lucky new owner to enjoy the car from day 1! There may be other E39’s available but NONE with this much service already done!! This wagon handles tight and has plenty of power throughout the gears at surface street speeds and on up to 75mph highway speeds!! We have put about 675 miles on this Bimmer and can verify that it runs strong, the transmission shifts smooth and it has no warning lights on in the dash! Please refer to the 100 photos that we have listed with the car to see the great condition & tons of features this beautiful & rare 525iT has to offer!! Our details on condition are not meant to scare buyers but rather to make you feel more comfortable about knowing exactly what you are getting! We pride ourselves in describing our vehicles as accurately as possible to avoid any unexpected surprises, you will get exactly what you see! This car will be a GREAT DEAL for its lucky new owner!! If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email us before bidding. I can be reached via phone at (305) 389-7987.
I’d hasten to think this is one of the few E39 Tourings without a sunroof, which could be pleasing to some. I’m don’t happen to be a particular fan of this shade of blue, but at least it isn’t a boring color which often plagues mid-sized German luxury vehicles these days. Considering the amount of work done, the asking price isn’t too out of line, but somewhere closer to the $7,500 to $8,000 territory might be a bit more reasonable. Now that BMW is withholding the current 5 series Touring from US customers, now is a great time to get out there, show your solidarity and snag a 5-speed, five door 5 series, expressing your enthusiasm for the family hauler with moves.

This is a very slick ride, the 5-speed in the wagon is a pretty rare creature (IIRC the 540iT was steptronic only), I also like that it’s one owner and lacks a sunroof (I’m not a huge sunroof fan, I like the added head room its absence provides and like knowing that there’s one less expensive component to need repair and/or have drains that get clogged and cause rust).
The large amount of pre-sale maintenance is kind of a catch-22, I’m glad to see it done and listed, I’m a tiny bit concerned that the PO might have put some stuff off, at least towards the end.
And, like the potential majority of used car ads claiming Audi S/RS, AMG, or M club membership, there was no “M-sport” package on the 2002 e39 6cyl touring. You can paste the last 7 of it’s VIN in any online BMW VIN option decoder and verify that it has a “sport suspension” and the M-steering wheel as options (PS – it’s one piece of plastic trim that differentiates that M-wheel from the non-M multifunction of that era and can be bought easily if you admire it), but there was no M-package available on the 6cyl cars (IIRC). The chrome trim (m-package is shadowline), lack of M5-esque bumpers, non M-wheels, and probable lack of M-door sills, and again it’s lack of 8 cylinders, confirm this. That said, I like the black leather w/ the dark wood trim. Also I believe 2002 was the e39 “facelift” MY which, among other small updates gets you the new for 2002 “angel eyes” style headlights.
On a side note, I really like that Carfax integrates dealer service notes but wow do they vary in usefulness, mentioning parts replaced is helpful, mentioning just that something was checked (and not why), not so helpful. Also less than helpful is “recommended service performed.” Ha

Ok I love wagons so much I had to go back and look at the photos again, and though I will say that it’s certainly possible to have not quite real life realistic color captured in compressed medium res photos, nor am I any kind of paint expert or even familiar with this color IRL…but… If you look at the pic w/ the hood open, the engine bay & shock towers look like a deeper shade of blue. In some of the pics where you can see a door surface and also the jamb or pillar underneath it, the jamb is darker. And the spare tire well is also very dark. My car, different year (similar vintage), different model, & different color, but same factory is consistent underhood, in door jambs, and under trunk mat. That said I don’t see any super conspicuous tape lines, or moulding overspray (at least in the pics), that often are the calling card of a cheap paint job.
Total armchair speculation and I would love if someone with more knowledge or better eye could set me straight.
