At the end of the Z3-based M Roadster’s life, it was given a horsepower treat in the form of the S54 inline-6, finally bringing the performance potential of the E36-based US market cars up to level of their European market cousins. With 315 horsepower on tap, this was a serious little beast and a far cry from the Z3 we first saw in the mid-1990s with it’s 1.9 liter inline-4. This 2002 M Roadster for sale in Florida has under 30,000 miles on the clock and sports a great look in silver with its contrasting red canvas top and black and red leather interior.

This is a future classic. I have owned since 2007 and have cared for like I was going to keep it forever. Recent move to Florida and lack of garage space making sale the practical move. Little less than 29k on the ODO I bot with 14k from second owner in NY. Always garaged or stored in classic car garage previous to move. Recently had the brakes and drive belts done in Boca at BMW specialist garage, he said he had never seen a car this old not have any error codes. Previous to that was dealer serviced. I have all documentation and original window sticker, manual, tools , two keys, tonneau cover for convertible top. It is stock except for Dinan strut tower brace and software upgrade done by first owner, I have papers. Also the basic short comings of car have been corrected, reinforced diff bracket , refurbished auto dimming mirror. Tires only have 2k miles on them. It is just a fantastic car to drive. Cosmetically , a few paint scratches and front bumper valence has a scrape, also wheels are in great shape but previous owner did put some minor road rash on 2 of them. Adult owned and not abused.
It’s well known that the M Coupe is bringing higher values these days than the M Roadster, but it seems that prices are picking up for late model examples of the M droptop. We saw a 1998 M Roadster with 35,000 miles sell for $13,400 last August. That earlier build car is equipped with the less powerful S52 motor. So we’re almost a year on, but you have to figure that almost 9,000 S52 equipped M Roadsters were built, whereas only 1,600 with the S54 came to the US. What price rarity, then?

Like the wheels and the outside, especially the colors, even though normally I dislike silver. The top looks great. But the inside is an autopsy. Hideous. If it were in a Fiero or a 1980ish Trans Am, no one would make excuses for it. Fast Times at Ridgemont High meets League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
