2006 Audi S4 25quattro

Ten years ago Audi celebrated their 25 years of Quattro by giving the United States (Sorry Canada, the bumpers didn’t meet Canadian low-speed crash test standards) a special delivery of 250 B7 S4 special ‘25quattro’ editions. All painted in a typically German Avus Silver color, these cars got DTM inspired front and rear bumpers that wear non-functional brake ducting and finished off with an aero-style lower rear valance (with a red tow hook hiding below it) and a carbon fiber trunk spoiler with matching front splitter. The wheels are again DTM inspired with a 15 spoke design pattered after OZ Racing but ironically made by long Audi supplier Ronal. On the inside, your typical full Recaro setup is there with two-tone seats in jet-gray as well as some carbon fiber trim and ‘1 of 250’ shift knob. All said and done, Audi gave it’s fans a nice cosmetic package to different from the rest of the B7 S4s. Unfortunately, the 25quattro received no performance upgrades outside of some different exhaust tips to give you a slightly more aggressive sound, but the car did receive the revised more rearward biased drive system also found in the RS4. Being only 1 of 250, this 25quattro located in California might fulfill your appetite for a rare V8 Audi without stepping into RS4 territory.

DETAILS-THIS PARTICULAR 2006 AUDI S4 25QUATTRO
To honor 25 years of the Quattro all-wheel drive, Audi made a limited edition of only 250 S4 sedans in the 2006 model year, calling them the S4 25quattro. All were sold only in the U.S. and only in Avus Silver. Other special features are described in the sections below. This particular car, number 87 of the 250, is particularly impressive as it appears in all aspects like new. The only owner, a local Californian, was meticulous in his care of the car, both mechanically and cosmetically. With only 52,230 miles, a full dealer service at 45K and a clean CARFAX, it is ready to be enjoyed by the new owner for many miles to come. 

HISTORY AND MAINTENANCE
The car was sold to the current Northern California owner by Niello Porsche/Audi and has been driven only 45,000 miles since. This owner is a long-time repeat customer of ours and is a car enthusiast who takes incredible care of all his vehicles. The car has always been maintained by the Audi dealer and recently received the full recommended 45K service. It has a clear California title and a clean CARFAX. The original window sticker shows an MSRP of $62,670 (a delivered cost of close to $70,000.00!). COSMETIC CONDITION
This Audi is in overall fantastic condition and shows as if new. The Avus Silver paint is excellent and shows no significant flaws. The alloy wheels are free of damage with the exception of a few small, shallow (and small) marks; the tires have fewer than 1,000 miles. All glass is excellent. The interior leather shows no signs of wear and the carpet/mats are excellent. The trunk is as new, hardly showing any use. The engine compartment is very clean and shows a pleasing color contrast between the silver of the fuel rail covers and intake area, the black surrounds and the bright red ignition harnesses. The underside of the car is “California” clean with absolutely no signs of rust, signs of damage or indication of leaks or mechanical issues.

In terms of buying a B7 S4, the market is all over the place mostly due to the maintenance and reliability nightmare these cars have the reputation of being. With things like scored cylinders/scored walls, timing chain rattle, poor compression and oil consumption, it’s easy to see that these aren’t exactly the most loved Audi ever despite it’s impressive stats on paper. To buy and own of these cars, you really have to be dedicated and not be afraid to crack open your wallet to the tune of several thousand dollars if this car comes calling. Given it’s rarity and impressive looks, it’s a no brainier to seek out a clean 25quattro over the standard B7 S4 unless you don’t like the DTM inspired parts or you just like colors other than silver. If the latter is the case, look for the 2008 S4 DTM in Sprint Blue which is basically the same car as the 25quattro.

As far as pricing, history of transactions seem to say these do bring a premium over any of the other B7 S4 cars out there. Although it’s important to note that pricing is heavily based on service and maintenance history when it comes to selling these. The B7 S4 is trending in the low-teens for some cars that need the major things done which isn’t totally surprising. As far as this specific car goes, it’s probably the cleanest 25quattro I’ve seen come up for sale in a long time. Averaging just over 5100 miles a year and based in California isn’t hurting it’s cause at all and the seller seems pretty thorough with the description of it. This car did run through an eBay auction already and ended at $17,300 with 31 bids. I’d say that is a fair price, but obviously the seller wasn’t happy with it.
