After last week’s Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS loaded up with a seemingly endless amount of options, I wanted to look at another GTS in the Porsche lineup, the Cayman. Porsche introducted the Cayman GTS in 2014 with much fanfare, as this was once again a setup with the S model but not as hardcore as the yet to be released GT4. It boasted respectable numbers from the 3.6L flat-six, and would accelerate to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds with the manual transmission, 4.7 seconds with PDK, and 4.5 seconds with PDK and Sport Plus mode. Base price was around $75,000, but of course you could never find one for that price given how many options were stuffed into these. This 2015 up for sale in New York is a great example of it.

A stripper model this is not. Finished in Jet Black over a Garnet Red interior, there are a whole slew of other options just for the heck of it like $300 just to paint the little headlight washer nozzles yellow to match the $7,400 Porsche Ceramic Composite brakes. Just going with all those options, and suddenly a $75,000 car is suddenly a $115,475 car. Someone really must of loved the Cayman GTS and probably was kicking themselves with the GT4 came out soon after. Much to my surprise, this car just has 3,000 miles on. So maybe the person who ordered this car just loved looking at it sit.
Now nearly five years later, this $115,475 car is offered right at $90,000. That is extremely expensive when talking about 981 Caymans. You can buy GT4s for that all day, as well as a bunch of new generation 718 GTSs for much less. This car is pretty cursed, if there is such a thing, of someone ordering a ridiculous amount of options and not driving it all, thus keeping its value theoretically very high. Unless you somehow are totally in love with the 981 and this exact spec, I have no idea why you’d even consider this car.

This won’t sell anywhere near this price. GT4 over this all day long.
The price might be a bit high, but it sure is pretty!
