2015 Porsche Cayman S

I’ve really come around on the 981 Porsche Cayman. For a while, I thought maybe they weren’t offering enough for the price and if you are going to spend the money you might as well just pay more for a 911, but they’ve grown on me. A big part of it was that the 718 was such a disappointment with the turbocharged flat-four and the awful sound it produces. Porsche knows this, otherwise the new GTS 4.0 probably never goes into production. Buyers want the great sounds in addition to everything Porsche has to offer.

Today’s car, a 2015 Cayman S up for sale in Miami, might have everything you are looking for in a 981. I know I’m awfully intrigued.

Reviews:
* Exceptional handling; slick-shifting transmissions; rewarding and efficient engines; beautifully crafted interior; extensive personalization options. Source: Edmunds
* The Porsche Cayman shows off a self-assured look with sloping headlights, edgy lines, and side scallops. Its body structure is aluminum intensive making it 66-pounds lighter, and 40-percent stiffer than before. Plus, stability at high speeds has been improved due to a wider track and 2.4-inch longer wheelbase. One look and you know this car will have no difficulty slicing through the wind as it blasts you down the road with your adrenaline flowing. It is a mid-engine coupe with superior balance, remarkable handling, and an affordable price that simply must be experienced. The interior of the Cayman is incredibly modern, with sleek lines and a very high-end feel. However, it exudes an attitude that never lets you forget that you are behind the wheel of a sports car first and foremost. It possesses generous headroom and legroom so you don\’t feel confined. For your things, you will find storage in the front under the hood, and in the rear hatch that give you 15 cubic feet of cargo space. It is sold in three models: the base Cayman, the Cayman S, and the top-level Cayman GTS. The Cayman comes with a 2.7L, 6-Cylinder engine that has 275hp. The Cayman S comes with a 3.4L, 6-Cylinder engine than has 325hp. The Cayman GTS is equipped with a 3.4L 6-Cylinder topping at 340hp. All models are rear-wheel drive and can be bought as a 6-speed manual or automatic. Porsche has given the base Cayman a generous array of standard features including such items as a sound system with 4-speakers and a 7-inch touch screen, water-repellant front windows with rain sensing wipers, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 18-inch wheels. In terms of safety, all Cayman models have 8 airbags, anti-lock brakes and brake assist. Source: The Manufacturer Summary

A few nice options on this one with the SportDesign steering, 20″ SportTechno wheels, Power Steering Plus, and Bose audio. Not a huge sticker price back in 2015 at $78,350 as it is missing power seats and Sport Chrono, but I don’t feel like this one is too missing too much to be enjoyed.

The ask on this one is right at $50,000 which feels a little high for 50,000 miles. This one has been for sale for some time now and no takers yet, so I suspect a price reduction might get it moving. I don’t love the black wheels, however, that is 100% personal preference, so that is probably a non-starter for me. Still, I think the value is there for these and will probably find a buyer sooner or later.

i like the car…but not the price….maybe low 40s is about max… I almost bought a used Cayman a few years ago, but my wife said just get a 911… i still think they are great cars. I also like that wheel, also sold by Porsche dealers as the Tequipment Wheel…I replaced my 997.2 wheel with that one.
