1967 Mercedes-Benz 230S

We tend to focus a lot on low mileage, mint condition examples of our favorite German vehicles here at GCFSB, but we can also appreciate original cars with patina to remind us how things once were. The Mercedes-Benz 230S was the car that started my fascination with the Three Pointed Star, as my father owned one shortly before my birth in the 1970s. His 230S was a 1967 just like this car we see here for sale in Missouri, except his was black over palomino with a 4-speed manual on the floor. This particular 230S we’re featuring today was originally a German market car that found its way to the US in the late 1980s.

1987 BMW 535i Euro Conversion

$_57
When buying an E28, there’s an amazing breadth of options when it comes to style, approach, and history. Some go with the M5, an epic and significant performance sedan that comes with steep prices and even steeper maintenance costs. Some look to the affordable and classy daily drivers out there, highlighting the simple sportiness of this great mid-size generation. Somewhere in between, there are some fantastic modified examples, whether they’ve been turbo’d, Euro’d, or all of the above. Today’s E28 wears the sharp exterior of a Euro M5 with its slight bumpers, clean foglight setup and 80s-tastic trunk spoiler. The seller, a strong member of the MyE28 forum and owner of both an E28 M5 and Hartge H5S, has spared few expenses. Beyond the full Euro conversion, the all-black interior is redone including a leather dash, undergone a nice repaint, the M30 was rebuilt just over 30k miles ago, and much more. Despite the beautiful looks, excellent attention to detail, and a very reasonable price, he’s had a surprisingly tough time finding a new home for it.

1987 BMW M6

I was sitting in the airport the other day scanning my Facebook news feed when I came across some old photos of the 1980s sitcom Moonlighting with actress Cybill Shepard driving a BMW 635CSi. It was appropriate that one of the quintessential eighties television series featured prominently one of the quintessential cars from the decade. In 1987, BMW gave the US market what they had been seeking in the form of the M6. The E24 was already a decade old by the time this version appeared. However, this was one potent super coupe for the time, with the 256 horsepower, 3.5 liter inline-6 under the hood. This M6 for sale is a two owner car with under 40,000 miles, perfect for someone looking for a treat to take to the next club meet.

1973 Porsche 911S Targa

I think most of us are pretty familiar with the 911S at this point and understand the demand there is for these excellent machines. Whenever a marque with a pedigree built on performance and a strong racing history puts out a sport version of their top level sports car, then you know that the bar for greatness will be set quite high. As the years have passed since the introduction of the 911S their popularity has continued to rise and the values of the early long-hood models have soared. The bad news of that is that they are now priced beyond what most anyone other than a serious collector can reasonably afford, but such is the case with nearly all vintage automobiles with any pedigree and a serious character. We still enjoy coming across them and at least having the time to take in and linger over restored examples and other well cared for models that can inspire our dreams. Here we have one in a combination I rarely can recall coming across: a Grand Prix White 1973 Porsche 911S Targa, located in Virginia, with a contrasting Houndstooth and Tan leather interior and a reported 80,382 miles on it.

1986 Ruf BTR Cabriolet – REVISIT

13004615_5

The RUF BTR Cabriolet we featured back in December 2013 has come up for sale again, this time with a much higher price! The original auction, which did not sell, had an asking price of $199,500. The car then was relisted at $149,500 and still failed to sell. The current listing has it at $285,000, which is a lot. These are amazing machines with a fantastic pedigree and they have tended to do well on the market, a point which should continue to hold true in the future. But this is asking too much, especially given the previous auctions.
