If you know me at all or even remotely follow these posts, you’ll know we’re here for two reasons. The lesser here, amazingly, is that this is an Alpina. Now, modern Alpinas may have lost some of the unique character that the company infused into them in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, but they’re still very special and very rare cars to see. But let’s get to the real reason this one caught my eye…and will catch the eye of anyone, really. This particular 2019 B7 xDrive was run through BMW’s Individual department. Now, the color isn’t disclosed in the ad, but I’m pretty sure this is one of my favorites – Java Green Metallic.

I don’t think that the G11 is going to go down as one of the best-looking large executives, but two things here – it’s an improvement over previous versions visually, and boy does the B7 have some guts. The twin-turbocharged N63 V8 is good for 599 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Even hooked to a standard automatic transmission instead of a dual-clutch setup, it’s far from slow – 0-60 is gone in 3.6 seconds despite a nearly 5,000-lb curb weight. Inside there’s more technology than you probably need by a long shot, but it’s what people in this category have come to expect. Do those same people want a bright green one? Doubtful. Do people who want a bright green M3 want this car? That also seems unlikely. It’s a very limited market for this car, but in a way I’m glad it exists.

That’s a fair comment – as an owner of a signal green G80 M3, I still would not get Java green on the Alpina…..I’d stick with a darker green like the standard Alpina green which IMO suits this car better…
Signal Green G80! Sounds awesome, Arun – enjoy!
If it is an Alpina of any sort it should be in the Alpina blue.
Too much color for that car.
