At some point, you have to throw in the towel. A car that gets too far gone and well past the point of mathematical sense to fix, or try to dish it off as a parts car. Ideally, you are never faced with the situation, but when you are, you probably have to take a real hard look from an outside perspective. I think today’s car, a 1975 Mercedes-Benz 280SL, is one of those situations.

This is admittedly a rare Euro car with the slim bumpers, nice headlights, and M110 inline-six engine. Other than that, it is a typical R107 that there are more than plenty out there at every price level. The problem is, the condition is not good – not good at all. Is it worth saving?

2000 Mercedes-Benz E320

I’ve been harping about the W210 Mercedes-Benz E320 wagon the past few weeks and all, but don’t forget the sedan was the real mover when it came to this generation E-Class. It was a stark departure from the W124 and it’s “old school” Mercedes feel and blocky design. But by the facelift models starting in the 2000 model year, they started to really come into their stride. That was of course if it didn’t rust away, which was a major problem. Today, we have a seemingly innocent looking E320, which is why I quickly dismissed it. However, I saw it pop up again and figure something had to be up for it to be priced at $12,000 for having 110,000 miles. Then I saw inside.

I love how a set of wheels can take a car from a “boring station wagon” to “getting 634 likes on Instagram” without much effort at all. For the W210 Mercedes-Benz E320 wagon, it is simple as throwing some 18″ AMG Monoblocks on it and calling it a day. Yes, it needs about a 2″ suspension drop, but we are certainly on the right track here with this 2002 up for sale in Connecticut. Especially since it is cheaper than the 2003 E320 wagon from a few weeks ago. Much cheaper.

2001 Audi RS4 Avant

2001 Audi RS4 Avant

The B5 Audi RS4 Avant was my first realistic dream car. Back when I was 18 years old, I scratched together all $10,000 I made over multiple summers washing cars and cutting grass and a bought a 1998.5 (that half year is important) Audi A4 1.8t. I loved that thing. I had it for nearly nine years and the whole time I owned it, the RS4 was the forbidden fruit. Back then, you had to get by with some grainy videos on YouTube and totally legally download episodes of Clarkson’s Top 100 Cars where he tested this car. I even remember ordering the OEM RS4 grille from Suncoast Porsche and installing it, sans badge of course. Now, we are almost knocking on the door of them finally legal for 25 year import if you don’t want to spend a ton of money for a car that is already federalized.

Today, we have my favorite colors that I looked at a few years ago, Goodwood Green. Although when you look closely at this one, you can see something a little different. That being the steering wheel on the other side. Why I am featuring a right-hand-drive UK car? A very good reason. Price.

2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S

Please forgive me for featuring the same model in back-to-back weeks, but this is something I’ve never seen before that I wanted to dive into. We all know the new 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S is rather bonkers, and Porsche keeps giving us all the extra goodies to make it even that much better. Although for a very steep price as we are about to see.

This 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is optioned with what Porsche is calling the “Lightweight Package.” What does that include? Well, you get thinner glass and sound deadening material, a 10mm lower suspension, a sport exhaust system, and most importantly, the carbon bucket seats. This is a big deal in the 911 Turbo world as I believe this is the first time you as a regular Joe could option the carbon buckets in the 911 Turbo. How much for all this? $10,340. Not exactly a big deal on a car that starts at $208,000 to begin with. It is also important to note that selecting this package deletes the electric steering column and rear seats as well. So if you are looking to build a GT2-esque example before we even are seeing spy shots of them, here is your chance.
