Last month we featured two very clean Mercedes-Benz 560SELs, the pinnacle of the lineup for Mercedes-Benz at the time. Now another two low mileage examples have come out of the woodwork, for those pining for the good old days. The first 560SEL we’ll take a look at is exactly how I would want mine kitted out, in black over black leather. The W126 design has aged well, blending an even amount of classic and modern touches for a look that would be hard to be improved upon.

1990 Mercedes Benz 560 SEL. 49,621 Original Miles. One owner and most desirable color combination. Original owner was a prominent physician from Manhattan who used the vehicle strictly for fair weather weekend use. The vehicle was always garage kept and pampered its entire life and the black exterior paint shines like glass. Exterior chrome trim and bright work all around is very clear and bright and has a mirror like finish. OEM wheels are flawless and the vehicle wears all matching Michelin tires with about 90% tread remaining.
Black interior is exceptional much like a new car in 1990. Black leather seats are firm and supportive and leather is still very soft and supple. Burl wood trim is exceptional and has a clear mirror like finish. Interior gauges are a deep bright orange and not faded due to sun exposure. The dash is free of any cracks.
The vehicle runs and drives like a well maintained Mercedes Benz should with exceptional power and a smooth ride. All vehicles options function 100%, and AC blows ice cold. All original books, keys, spare tire, tools and first aid kit are present and even the original window sticker. If you are fan of the much heralded W126 Sedan, do not let this opportunity pass you by! The vehicle is located in a climate controlled environment in Raleigh, North Carolina 27612
Note: Photos taken in late March and less than 90 miles have been placed on the vehicle since these photos. Interested parties should contact Dean at 848-459-7776
In comparison to the 560SL, 560SEL prices have been rather steady over the past couple of years, but good ones are starting to inch up, with some breaching $20,000. This one is priced a bit high, but not far out of the realm of reason, especially considering the very desirable color combination. Now for a 560SEL with slightly higher mileage that was a one-owner vehicle until being purchased this past February from an estate.

The flagship W126 S Class from Mercedes-Benz is legendary in the luxury car market having dominated sales during its 12 year production run which finally ended in 1991. In the late 1980’s the W126 S Class received the highest customer ratings in the J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index and and it was also awarded the U.S. Highway Loss Data Institute’s ‘Safest Passenger Car of the Year’ award with anti-lock brakes, crumple zones and dual airbags since 1989. It was not only one of the very safest and best cars available anywhere in the world, but also one of the most prestigious luxury sedans money could buy with countless dignitaries, international embassies and world leaders owning these models. Even today, many countries around the world still use this particular model to transport their heads of state.
This particular example has obviously always been garaged with no signs of any accidents and it has a clean CARFAX report. The original factory ‘Astral Silver Metallic’ color paint is still almost as new and the car boasts an absolutely beautiful condition ‘Alpaca Gray’ leather interior with virtually no signs of any wear and the original leather dashboard and the walnut wood veneer interior are also still like new too (obviously always garaged from the sun and elements)! This car shows true pride of ownership as can only usually be found on such rare original long time and mature original ownership examples.
Purchased by its original southern California owner on 5/4/1991 from “Calstar Motors, Inc,” Mercedes-Benz dealers of Glendale California with its original dealer purchase order showing an original sales price of over $72K and always primarily serviced at Mercedes dealerships since new. We recently purchased the car directly from the original owner. The car drives exactly like such a well maintained and serviced Mercedes with only 30K original miles should and must be seen and driven to be truly appreciated! The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool. All the options are working as they should including the A/C.
Without a doubt, this is one of the finest examples of classic luxury sedans built by Mercedes-Benz – certainly you will look long and hard to find a finer head-turning example of this last and therefore most desirable year model for the 560SEL in this most striking and desirable of color combinations with an unbelievably low and original 30K miles available anywhere else!

This silver one is one year newer with less miles but not far off the price of the black one. Both of these W126s are just a tad overpriced, but with a bit of savvy bidding and bargaining, could turn out to be a rather wise investment.

If I only had the addional space, to get the black one.
Or… sell the air cooled 911, get this 560 SEL AND a 560 SL, and keeping the change for any future service repairs.
