1997 Porsche 911 Turbo

I hope you like gold.

This is a 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo finished in paint to sample Opal Metallic with matching wheel centers over a Cashmere and Mocha leather interior. I don’t know what more to really say about it. It is a unorthodox combination that probably no one would order today, but then again we do have people paying $13,000 to paint their GT3 in Ivory. Still, I think we can appreciate this car for what is it and admire from a far. Because that is exactly what I’m going to do after seeing the price.

2007 Volkswagen GTI Fahrenheit Edition

Andrew’s very orange Boxster reminded me of another special from the same time. Volkswagen launched a special run of GLI and GTIs called the Fahrenheit Edition in 2007; the GLI was Imola Yellow, and the GTIs like you see here were Magma Orange. Otherwise, you got the same wheels, interior package, and performance – they were primarily an appearance package. Today’s car has below-average mileage and some mods; how does that affect the price?

1980 BMW M1

Okay, I missed St. Patrick’s day, but we’re close enough. What we have here is a 1980 BMW M1. I won’t bore you again with its history since I recently dove into that in a look at a very impressive dark blue one:

1979 BMW M1

But if dark blue is fairly rare, today’s car is even moreso. That’s because it was repainted Irish Green. Sacrilegious though it may be, the result is pretty undeniably awesome:

1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL

I’m officially declaring that spring is in the air. We are into mid-March now and soon the weather will turn for the better. That means car season is here and convertible season is soon to follow. Today, I wanted to look at one of my old favorites that always bring joy to me no matter the engine size or the condition – the W113 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. I think these are one of the most classic Mercedes models in terms of package and usability of them even over 50 years later. I am not alone in this thinking therefore prices are not cheap. However, this 1968 280SL up for sale in Virginia comes in at a somewhat reasonable price and I’m not sure why.

2008 Porsche Boxster Limited Edition

I read a stat recently that 78.5% of the cars sold in the US today are finished in a grayscale color. On top of that, blue was next at 9.5% while red followed up with 8.6%. That isn’t a lot of room for the wild colors. Thankfully, Porsche is saving the day with these wild color combos and the endless list of paint-to-sample selections. Even better, Porsche offers these crazy colors as dealer stock. Today, we roll the clock back 15 years to the 2008 Boxster Limited Edition. 500 examples were produced, 250 each for the Boxster and Boxster S. All of them were finished in “Orange”, which was the same “Orange” on the 2008 911 GT3 RS. Even crazier, they sprinkled some of that extra orange paint on the trim too. Do you want to stick out? Here you go.
