Lower price but still including $1000 of spare/extra parts. This is a classic BMW that really gets attention at any BMW event it is at. The black interior is something most BMW enthusiasts are caught by surprise with. Beautiful condition, great driving car and performance hard to match even in 2009 for a 4 door sedan. Had a very complete PPI performed that is available to inspect when viewing the car.
All engine checks were great, cam chain/rails looked “very good”
Leak down results were 6%-8%-4%-6%-6%-6%
Parts that were flagged have been replaced: fuel filter, coolent hose, lower ball joints, clutch slave cylinder.
I have also replaced the catalytic converter with Magnaflow unit
It now has 140,000 miles on it.
I chose to repost the picture of the driver’s seat because a) it highlights the very rare black leather interior on an e28 M5, and b) it really exemplifies how clean this car is — a real enthusiast owner takes care of the leather too, and you can expect the rest of the car has been cared for the in the same way! I just recently saw this car in person at a local track day event (Chuck wasn’t driving at the event by the way, just shooting pictures), and everyone at the driver’s meeting stopped and turned to see what was making that fantastic M powered sound! This car is really a great example and Chuck is hoping to find an appreciating enthusiast home for it.
Here’s a gorgeous , with only 8800 miles and a $43k buy-it-now:
quote from seller’s eBay listing:
1994 Mercedes E500 finished in Pearl Black over Parchment Leather interior. This ONE OWNER example is being presented in excellent, garage kept condition. Fully loaded with all options from the factory, this E500 is considered the original AMG Mercedes as it was a joint collaboration between Mercedes and Porsche, it carries with it very subtle OEM body treatments such as front and rear fender flares and enhanced grill. Purchased new in 12/94 from California dealer, this car has only seen 8800 miles and always stored in a climate controlled garage. All service documents from factory Authorized Mercedes dealer, all books, tools, and keys! No accidents or paintwork and is 100% all original as it came from the factory. Considered the lowest mileage E500 in the country known to exist. A collectible car with the comfort and ease of a daily driver!
While there aren’t many E500’s with this kind of mileage — after all, most were driven by wealthy executives who didn’t care about miles — $43k sounds very optimistic. Maybe there are gold bars in the glove box, but I think in this economy, the seller is really holding out for the one in a million (or billion?) that might justify the price for the miles.
First up is an eBay listing for a . This car is advertised as 1 of 5 imported that year and a very low 12k miles! I’m a little late getting to this one, so bid soon 😉 ($39k reserve not met currently)
quote from seller’s eBay listing:

I’m personally digging the 78, though I’d probably go with the period correct Ruf rims of the day. Just saying…
I spotted this 600SEC on Craigslist in Denver to compliment the 600SEL I recently posted. Here is an inexpensive two door version. A lot of what I said in that previous post about the 600SEL goes for the 600SEC, just minus two doors. $5500 even with 105k miles is a heck of a lot of car for the money. You’ll need to get a lot more description than this seller offers though before pulling the trigger. It may run great, but with all the 15 year old electronics there is plenty that can be wrong. Still at $5500, drive it for a season, hope nothing major breaks, and then sell it for what you put into it.
The link love continues tonight with another rare sighting: A 1988 Porsche 911 Club Sport. One of only 28 officially imported to the U.S. and sporting the excellent Gulf Blue paint. Check it out on 6SpeedOnline.com for best offer over $60k:
Many of you have seen photos of my Club Sport. Business opportunities lead me to very reluctantly sell this car. When selling cars that I’ve owned in the past I’ve been guilty of saying, “I’ll find another one”. I cannot make that statement with this car.
The 1987-1989 Club Sport is arguably the most-rare, lightweight production 911 that Porsche has ever produced. It took me over two years to find this one. Not only is this Club Sport rare from a production standpoint, this is a “Sonder-Wunsch” or Special Wishes 911. The rarest of the rare, one of the 28 North American Carrera Club Sports painted by the factory in Gulf Blue. Believed to be the only Club Sport worldwide painted this color. The car was built with Chrome rather than black window trim and a Burgundy pinstripe velour interior. It is a car that is all original including the paintwork with extensive paperwork back to 8,000 miles.
Granted that’s a lot of cash for a Carrera of that vintage, but again I agree with the comments that this car isn’t going down in value anytime soon. I think it would make for an excellent collector car as well, and would be so awesome on back roads this time of year!
Well I’m not going to lie: I’m not crazy about the brown. Now that we have that out of the way, this is a phenomenal example of one of the finest BMW e28 tuner cars there is. It enjoys a full restoration and a very tasteful list of departures from stock.
This 1987 Hartge H5S has been extensively restored by the current seller including restoration of the engine compartment with the engine removed. When the car was re-painted its original color with all glass and trim removed, the plastic side skirts, lower rear valence, and decklid spoiler were also discarded. Those components tend to make M535i and tuner E28s look horrible, so this car really comes together nicely as a result. Most recently it won first place at the Central Coast BMW CCA Concours last month in Monterey. It is available in Southern California for $45k obo.
$45k is a chunk of change, but as one of the BaT commentors mentions, is there anything in the current BMW model range that you’d rather have for that money? Me neither!
I haven’t seen a second gen Scirocco this clean since high school, and that was nearly 20 years ago! This car belongs to my buddy Josh from Sports Car Shop in Eugene. In addition to only having 65k miles, this car is immaculate. Josh is a particular guy and keeps his rides spotless. He shopped all over the world to put together the great period correct aftermarket parts and the result is quite stunning.
Need to sell my 1984 scirocco thats been sitting in my garage, but hardly gets driven. Garage is getting taken over, so it will not have a space to sit anymore.

Just a quick post to show some of the Porsches I encountered for sale while attending the Vintage Grand Prix at Waktins Glen International race track this past weekend. The seller’s numbers are listed in the pictures.
The weekend also had an auto auction that saw several Mercedes and Porsche vehicles sell at pretty cheap prices.
It is a full Euro spec car with only 24,000 miles. It has Dinan add ons including Stage III suspension, intercooled turbocharger, Borla exhaust, and Brembo brakes. Quite a bump up in horsepower from the stock Euro trim 286. One owner cars like this don’t turn up all that often.
I always have a soft spot for vehicles that once held the title fastest production sedan in the world.
Mercedes and BMW sure had the cool headlight wiper thing figured out. The twin arm design on the M5 is similar to that found in vertical orientation on another fastest sedan in the world, (and perhaps godfather of all the German Q cars) the 300SEL 6.3.
I’m not really sure if the modifications made to the car hurt its collectible value. I doubt it since they are contemporary with the time the car was new and done by a reputable BMW tuner.
Its expensive at a priced reduced $29,900, but I wouldn’t mind having it in my garage for sure. Its listed in Hemmings at $31,900.
From the seller:
1986 BMW M5. European specification model. Only 24,000 original miles! This superb example features flawless “Diamond black” paint with gorgeous brown water buffalo leather. With only one owner from new, this Dinan-prepared M5 features an inter-cooled turbocharger and Borla stainless exhaust system, the combination of which produces an impressive 462 horsepower! A stage III suspension package and Brembo F-40 braking system with drilled rotors makes this a true “Ultimate Driving Machine” experience. In addition, thermostatically controlled transmission and differential coolers have been fitted to the car. The usual 5-series amenities of air conditioning, power windows, door locks and factory sunroof add to the comfort and convenience of this ultra-high performance sedan – a true sports car with four doors. All EPA and DOT certification papers are available.
Our M5 was imported by its one and only owner and all certification paperwork comes with the car. Even the original German ownership document is available! All upgrades were completed in California by Dinan, the preeminent company for BMW performance enhancements. The turbocharger brings the horsepower up to 462! The differential has been converted to a 3:91 from the original 3:73. New clutch in 2005 and the turbo was rebuilt in 2006. Split Second control for air/fuel mixture has been installed in lieu of the air flow meter. Surely this is among the finest, lowest mileage early M5’s anywhere and could certainly be unique with its upgrades. Lastly, the car has been thoroughly inspected and completely detailed by the TLD staff.
Not really our typical bag on this blog, but what the heck.
Buy this bad boy that needs some work now, sort it out over the winter, and you’ll be all set for next year’s vintage racing season. Or turn it into one hell of a street car, although I doubt unleashing close to 1000 horsepower through a race gearbox and suspension will result in something that could genuinely be called streetable.
It is up at $175,000, reserve not met, and it comes with a spare engine. Get yourself a piece of racing history, and then find a pit crew.
The seller’s description:
Driven by John Andretti, Davy Jones and David Hobbs This car only has two races on it therefore the chassis is perfect and not worn out. This was the test “mule” car that did much of the development work for the BMW program. This car has a new/fresh 2.1 liter turbo engine (over 900hp) and a fresh spare in one of the factory crates. Enough hard parts to rebuild at least two additional motors, MANY, many spares. This is a project that is un-assembled and is missing the two doors and part of the gearbox housing. Body needs fitting and paint. Unbelievable value for a GTP works car that represented the BMW factory.
