1970 Porsche 911T Coupe

For reasons that I can’t quite pin down, I really enjoy the look of a green 911 on models prior to the 964, especially the long-hood models, but am far less a fan of those same colors on everything from the 964 forward. The exceptions are some of the dark green metallic shades that I enjoy on any model, but a color such as the one we see here, an Irish Green 1970 Porsche 911T Coupe, I find immensely more appealing on an early 911. Perhaps there is something about the narrower, lighter, structure of the early cars that showcases colors like this one in a way the newer models do not, but it is something I can’t really put my finger on. Regardless, this is a beautiful 911 complete with a Tan interior to complete this iconic contrast of shades. It appears to have gone through various stages of restoration, and sits currently as a well cared for driver to either be put to good use or more fully restored to pristine condition.

1970 Porsche 911S

I am not old enough to know what sort of excitement the 911S brought on when it was first released. With horsepower ranging from 160 to 190 and only around 2300 lbs to move the 911S remains a good performer even by modern standards, but nearly 50 years ago I can imagine that this sort of performance, especially in a relatively small package, would have come as quite the revelation to the motoring world. For those seeking the ultimate performance Porsche the 911S followed the tried and true method of combining more power with fewer luxuries. Following its redesign in 1974 it would be quite a while before the S returned as a top of the line performer, which has made these early models some of the most highly desirable throughout the 911 range with excellent examples approaching $200K. The car we see here is a restored Silver Metallic 1970 Porsche 911S with a reported 74,915 miles on it.

1970 Porsche 914-6

For our last installment of Motorsports Monday, we featured a Porsche 914-6 GT that was track ready. That car sold for $30,100. If you aren’t much one for track days but are looking for the brawn the flat-6 engine provides over the flat-4, you’ll want to check out this 914-6 for sale in California with a GT spec 2.5 liter engine. It may not be done up in full on race livery, but if you have the nerve, imagine what a weapon this thing would be at the next autocross event near you.

Motorsports Monday: Porsche 914-6

The Porsche 914 is a car that owes a lot of its development and existence to the 911. Originally designed as an entry level model in the late 1960s, Porsche would eventually slot a flat-6 engine under the hood. However, in doing so, the price would jump to near that of the 911T. As a result, sales were poor, with folks either choosing the more expensive 911 or the less expensive 914 with the flat-4 engine. While we see a lot of 911s and even 912s in race livery here on GCFSB, a 914 done up for track use is a bit more uncommon. This 914-6 for sale in Tennessee had its 2.0 liter engine bored out to 2.2 liters and will come with a trailer if bidding reaches $45,000.
