Big Coupes: BMW M6 Roundup

If you want a grand coupe, room for 4 in a pinch, looks to melt hearts and minds and a race car soundtrack, the E24 M6 and M635CSi are one of the few options for you. A supreme autobahn blitzer capable of hanging with sports cars on back roads, the M6 has a pretty unique skill set hidden beneath that flowing exterior. Right now, there are five great condition Ms up on Ebay, so I thought it was time to do a roundup of what was available and take a look at the options. The first is probably the best one money can buy, and not a stranger to these pages. We saw this ultra-low mile museum piece as part of the 1980s BMW M “Holy Trinity” post I did last fall, and while the location and seller has changed, the condition hasn’t:

Wagons. We love them here at GCFSB and with each passing year, a few more models become available to US customers that weren’t sold in this market originally. This 325i Touring is prime in the crosshairs of vintage Bimmer enthusiasts and a few have made their way over to these shores already. This Lachsilber 325i Touring with BBS basketweaves has been recently imported and is ready to be picked up by its next owner down in sunny Florida.

1989 Porsche 911 Speedster

I suppose it is a testament to the current Porsche market that it seems like we are more frequently coming across attempted sales of the 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster. Harking back to the original 356 Speedster, these featured the mechanicals of the 3.2 Carrera but added a raked, removable, windscreen and removed the rear seats in favor of a hard tonneau cover. As an homage to a weekend racer, these were always destined to be collectors and, like most, the example featured here has predominantly spent its life in a garage as it shows only 8,639 miles on the clock and appears nearly spotless inside and out.

1989 Porsche 911 25th Anniversary Edition

Porsche has always enjoyed providing its customers with special edition models that celebrate some aspect of the marque’s heritage. Such is the case with this 1989 Porsche 911 25th Anniversary Edition (also called the Silver Anniversary Edition) in Silver Metallic. The 25th anniversary of the 911 fell just prior to Porsche’s extensive redesign of the model that would mark the end of the classic 911 body. What better time to release a limited edition anniversary model? These cars were mechanically similar to a standard 3.2 Carrera, featuring a 3.2 liter flat-six engine producing 215 hp mated to the G50 5-speed transmission. The 25th Anniversary Edition featured a host of leather interior upgrades as well as body-colored Fuchs wheels and front and rear spoilers. Though the upgrades are simply cosmetic the 25th Anniversary models have been valued slightly higher by most collectors and with time should continue to see rising values.
