Avant-garde: 1995 Audi S6 Avant Roundup

In the U.S., few Audi models have quite such a devoted following as the 1995 S6 Avant. Not many were imported, and those that were generally have been snapped up by enthusiasts and had miles piled on to them. Some have succumbed to accidents or been organ donors, leaving even fewer on the road 20 years later. However, we have 4 today available – amazingly all in different colors. 1995 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG

The Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG carried on the tradition of jamming a big engine into a modest package to produce big time performance. The more I delve into AMG history, however, I am intrigued by the C43’s predecessor, the C36 AMG. This was AMG’s first in-house collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. While it may be down on horsepower, it’s a rarer find than the V8 variants that succeeded it. We featured a final year C36 AMG earlier this month, but here is a low mileage black example for sale in Wisconsin.

10K Friday S-Fest II: 1992-1995 Audi S4/S6 Roundup

The Audi S4 and S6 are still one of the best performance bargains out there, but you often have to wade through a lot of examples to find some good ones. Ur-S Double Take: 1992 Audi S4 v. 1995 Audi S6

As Paul and our reader John both noted in last week’s 1991 Audi S4 post, the price of that appealing and clean example of was fairly high relative to what you could purchase a slightly higher miles but still clean model in the U.S. for, even not taking into account the cost of importing the car to the U.S. To underscore that point, today we’ll look at both an early and later version of the venerable 20V Turbo C4 chassis Audi – the enthusiast dubbed “Ur-S” cars. First off we’ll look at a 1992 S4, then a 1995 S6:
