1997 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG

Want to go fast but be stealth about it? Mercedes-Benz AMG models have always been a great way to have practicality mixed with insane amounts of power, but today’s models are a bit more telling on their outward appearance with regards to their mission. Their forebears were a bit more conservative, though. Witness this 1997 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG for sale in Florida with less than 60k miles on the clock. This year was the rarest for what was the first AMG collaboration after the tuner was brought in-house by Mercedes, with only 236 units produced.

1997 Porsche 911 C4S

I have always been a huge fan of the classic 911. From certain angles and in certain colors they possess a combination of beauty and aggression that makes me forget they’re 30-year-old cars. Then I come across a 993, especially one of the Carrera S variants with their wider rear arches, and my perspective is completely shifted. Suddenly the classic 911 shows its age when compared with the delicate curves of the 993. In the end, both are fantastic designs and with the air-cooled 911 market continuing to show strength, either model should provide great return on investment. The car we have featured here is an Arctic Silver 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe, located in California, with only 39,000 miles on it.

1997 Volkswagen GTI VR6

Volkswagen popularized the concept of the hot hatch in the 1970s with the GTI, but they moved the chains in the 1990s when they shoved the newly introduced VR6 engine under the bonnet of the Mk3 GTI. Mazda got the jump on Volkswagen in the six cylinder hatchback game by a few years with their MX-3, having a 1.8 liter V6 as an option. But the GTI VR6 had much more brawn and that famous, baritone exhaust note. This 1997 GTI VR6 for sale in Oregon is a two owner, unmolested car.

1997 Mercedes-Benz CL600

With the fear of dwindling energy supplies and the race to make our vehicles cleaner, there are some things that are seemingly disappearing from the automotive landscape. There are still a few holdouts in the market, but the manual transmission has been disappearing even in exotic sports cars such as Lamborghini and Porsche as faster, more economical automated manuals and automatic gearboxes have emerged. Engines with more than eight cylinders seem to be a dying breed and small vehicles seem to be rather popular, even in a country like the US where bigger is often better. What then, to make of this Mercedes-Benz CL600 in an era of rightsizing? Even though it isn’t terribly vintage, this large coupe powered by six liters and twelve cylinders seems an anachronism in today’s motoring world.

1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S

To Porsche fans, air cooled is more than a preference or novelty; it’s a borderline religion. And if the 993 represented the ascension of the prophet of the boxers to near God-like status, the 996 was most certainly the Anti-Christ. As a result, peppered by their own frenzied quest to prove the merit of the the super-Beetle Porsche fans themselves have driven up the prices on the last of the holy 911s. There are several special versions and owners and enthusiasts of each will kindly explain at length why their pick is or should be top value amongst the 993 crowd; but for most people not interested in that multi-hour conversation look no farther than right here. Porsche once again resurrected the the “S” moniker for the 993 Turbo’s last run and it was surely worthy of the crown; upgraded over the already 959-esque twin-turbocharged all-wheel drive 993 Turbo, Porsche added a few horsepower and some styling tweaks to a few hundred of these special Turbos, ensuring their future collector status and accompanying price:
