1990 Audi V8 Quattro

Every time I think I’m out, another one pulls me back in. I’ve pretty well documented my love/hate/love relationship with the Audi V8 quattro, and today’s example has placed me firmly back into “Camp Love”. It’s funny, too, because I really don’t think the big-body Audis look particularly good in Tornado Red; I once joked upon seeing a red V8 Quattro “Here comes the Fire Chief!” But something about the condition of today’s example has me rethinking that stance; perhaps it’s the low miles; perhaps it’s the rare to see great and clean condition; but more likely than not, it’s just that it’s a non-Pearlesant White V8:

Motorsport Monday: 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera

Buying a used race car is always a bit of a mixed bag; if you build it yourself, you know what you’ve got and what you’ve done but it’s more expensive. Buy someone else’s project, though, and you can spend years trying to undo what they’ve “done”. But if you find just the right car to buy, you can get a serious performance bargain – top shelf quality at a house-brand price. Today’s 911 may just be this exact case; a staple of the racing community, long before “Miata” was the answer to every question automotive, if you wanted to go racing you bought a 911, such as this 1986 Carrera:

1996 Porsche 911 Turbo

The other day I had dinner with my 1996 Turbo-owning neighbor and discussed his purchasing process, which began with an attraction to the wide hips of the C4S and led him to the ever-increasing draw of the final air-cooled Turbo. Many see it as the ultimate iteration of the unstoppable, quintessential sports car, and pristine examples are commanding serious money. The only difference between my neighbor’s and this one are the wheels and interior, and the brushed turbo twists and deep magenta interior are quite attractive under the black exterior. With fewer than 30k miles, this is the holy grail for many P-car enthusiasts.

White Christmas Sunday: 1991 Audi V8 Quattro – REVISIT

In the last month or so, I wrote up three different V8 quattros that were all Pearlesant White Metallic 3.6s, all in great condition. One of those cars has popped back up on Ebay with a substantially lowered Buy It Now price. At under $5,000, will this V8 Quattro make your Christmas white? I sure wouldn’t mind finding it under the tree this year!
