Convertibles are usually met with skepticism by enthusiasts, but there are always exceptions. For me, driving a Z8 helped me change my tune, followed by the decidedly non-German but incredible experience of hooning a Miata. When you live in Hawaii, it’s hard to imagine hiding from the sun and rising scenery of the islands, and VW Cabriolets are a very popular choice. Commonly associated with teenage girls, today’s cab comes with Berg Cup fender flares and enough performance upgrades to terrify teenagers and prompt families to hide their kids and hide their wives. A turbocharged 16V helps it back up the crazy flares and charge up the mountains like a true Berg Cup competitor. It’s a little out there, but to be honest, I’m kind of in love with this car. A serious rollcage counteracts the lost rigidity and fits in perfectly. The bodykit is just so out there that it works for me and I love the cream color. If I were to buy a convertible, I think I want it to be this one.

Taking over from the pre-war 170, the Ponton was Mercedes-Benz’s all-new design, which would help the company emerge from the ashes of war and help mold it into the recognized luxury vehicle manufacturer it is today. This platform spawned a number of variants, one of which was a rather reserved, elegant four-place cabriolet like the example we see here for sale in Arizona. In the 1990s, Mercedes-Benz went about the retro concept in their own way. It had been almost 20 years since they produced a four place cabriolet, but with the W124 E class, they reintroduced this bodystyle with a modern twist. Impeccable build quality and Mercedes styling hallmarks remained, but added into the mix were the latest technologies such as ABS, airbags and an innovative roll hoop system that deployed in case of an accident behind the rear seats.
These E class Cabriolets are highly prized and this 300CE for sale in Maryland adds celebrity on top of an already desirable package. This was the very car that starred in the movie “The Firm.â€

Comments closedThe Cayenne and Panamera are great performance cars in their own right, but for the Porsche purist, it is little more than a vehicle by which they can keep their favorite sports car manufacturer in the business of just that: manufacturing sports cars. It seems the diversity in the lineup, the earlier water-cooled, front engined Porsches are now getting the respect they deserve. This 968 Cabriolet for sale in Florida is equipped with the 6-speed manual gearbox and is closing in on the 100,000 mile mark. Still a lot of life left for someone who wants to live out their P car dream on a budget.
