1998 Mercedes-Benz SLK 230 Kompressor

I hope you like yellow. I always seem to go hot and cold on the color, and honestly that is because it entirely depends on what car it is. Last week we saw a very rare 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 sell for a bunch of money and I’m certain if that car was black, it wouldn’t have sold for that price. However, whenever Designo gets involved, they seem to turn the dial up a few notches. That was the case with this 1998 SLK 320 Kompressor up for sale in Italy. Hold on.

1993 Mercedes-Benz 220CE

Last week I looked at a 1994 Mercedes-Benz E320 Coupe that had a ton of potential, but I just couldn’t commit given its long list of aftermarket parts that weren’t very flattering in my eyes. From the looks of it, the readers felt the same way judging by the comments that echoed my points. Today, I found another W124 Coupe that not only is stock (outside of a Blaupunkt headunit), but is actually one of the nicest C124s I’ve ever come across. This 1993 220CE up for sale in the Netherlands is a model that was never sold in North America and is quite unique thanks to a few options. This 220CE is powered by the M111 inline-four that is also found in the W202 C220, a car we do have in North America, and makes a surprising 150 horsepower for being as basic as it is. All this is nice, but the real reason I am here is because of the beautiful Malachite Green, both inside and out.

1995 Mercedes-Benz E200

No, this isn’t a typo. This is a 1995 Mercedes-Benz E200 â€” in Chicago. Even stranger, this is a right-hand drive car from Great Britain. Why and how did it end up in Chicago? I have no idea. Just to refresh, the 200E/E200 was the base model of the W124 that came with either the M102 or M111 inline-4 engine. This car has the later M111 that produced 134 horsepower and 140 lb·ft of torque. Not a powerhouse by any means, but enough to get you moving. The E200 also came with a cool cloth interior with those rad 90s patterns that everyone loves so much now. But as you might have noticed, this is not a stock E200.
