1995 Porsche 928GTS

Here’s a fine example of my favorite car in the world. A 1995 Porsche 928 GTS. This particular car is almost certainly one of the lowest mileage examples in the country, and is priced accordingly. As you may know, only 406 928 GTSs were sold in North America between 1992 and 1995. The 1992 model year cars were sold as 1993s, thereby dividing 1993 production into early 1992 928s, and late (real 1993) 928s. For 1995, only 77 GTSs were imported, 47 of which were automatics. This car is one of those 47, and judging by the mileage and color combination, it is certainly one of the most desirable.

1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 Coupe

The Carrera 3.0 remains, to me, a somewhat mysterious car. Never offered in the US, these 911s followed in the footsteps of the fabled Carrera RS as a lightened and more powerful variant of an already excellent machine. The US market retained only the standard 911S, which used a 2.7 liter flat-six that remained hampered by restrictive emissions equipment. Now these highly regarded 911 models can be found on our shores, though their relationship – even if somewhat fleeting – to the Carrera RS has made them quite desirable. We’ve featured a few in the past and it has been tough to get a sense of where the market exactly lies as asking prices and auction bids rarely seem to match up. But here we have another, a restored Oak Green Metallic 1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 located in Belgium, that has seen plenty of miles during its life and currently shows around 112K miles.

1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

Since we’re currently buried under a couple feet of snow here in the mid-Atlantic, what better time to feature a Cabriolet! Cruising top down, snow and road salt splashing through your hair, with just the faintest sensation left in your fingertips as you slide around another icy corner. It just doesn’t get any better. So, maybe that’s not the ideal scenario, but really attractive cars don’t take days off because it snowed somewhere else so our eyes must remain open. Here we have a Velvet Red 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, located in Florida, with a contrasting Linen and Burgundy leather interior and 33,594 miles on it. This is not a color combination we frequently see. While we come across a Linen interior from time to time it is almost always with a Blue or Grey exterior. The contrast here with Velvet Red is particularly striking and even though Linen probably would not be most buyers first choice it certainly serves to set a 911 like this one apart from the others.

Double Take: Tangerine 911S – Coupe or Targa?

Time for some citrus. I’ve mentioned previously how the market for the long-hood 911 has plateaued, and perhaps even reached its peaked, but even if that is the case the 911S remains a special car that we must keep an eye on. These were some of Porsche’s first opportunities to show its ability to produce a top-level machine that could provide performance but also remain civilized. The 911S epitomized that focus and here we have two different variants, both of which come in the wonderful shade of Tangerine over Black. With values remaining mostly stable over the past year it’s not a bad time for those who really enjoy these early 911s to look for the right opportunity. Here we have both a Coupe and a Targa and both look in very good condition. Which would you choose? We will begin with the Targa, from the 1968 MY:

2004 Porsche 911 GT2

At the beginning of this week I featured a pretty highly modified Black 930 Slantnose Coupe that possessed a great deal of menace that would separate it from just about everything else around. The car we see here, a Black 2004 Porsche 911 GT2, might be thought of as a factory version of that aggressive 930. Relative to a 930 Slantnose the styling of the GT2 is actually pretty subdued, but mechanically there are no such limitations as these packed a serious punch with every one of their 477 horses directed only to the rear wheels. For buyers who felt disparaged by Porsche’s use of all-wheel drive in the Turbo, the GT2 provided reassurance that the marque had not gone soft. Its performance bonafides were as secure as ever, even if the GT2 was no longer needed for homologation purposes.
