Legendary BMW M1 on Ebay
Ben had this post all ready to go for this M1 that showed up on eBay, but before we could get it posted the car disappeared off of eBay. The auction had been pulled. We’re not sure what happened, but in case it was something sketchy, I suspect it was, be careful if you see this car listed again. ~Evan
I wanted to get this up ASAP. 1980 (e26) BMW M1 in New Jersey. If you’re a big BMW fan, which I’m sure most of you are, this is one of the Holy Grails. The original BMW supercar. Built in conjunction with Lamborghini and styled by Guigiaro, BMW wanted to enter Group 4 and Group 5 Homologation racing. The unofficial BMW M1 site says that the M1 never raced in Group 4 or 5 but actually ended up competing in the Procar series instead, where “In 1981, David Cowart and Kenper Miller won the IMSA GTO category.” Only 455 total M1s were built, 399 being road examples.
The M1 has a mid-engine layout where a 273hp twin-cam 3.5 L 6-cylinder lives. This engine was later modified and used in the E24 M6/M635CSi and the E28 M5.
The seller says the vehicle condition is excellent: no rusts spots, paint blemishes or body damage. 46,000 miles means this M1 isn’t a trailer queen but also hasn’t been thrashed. There’s only one picture up which is really too bad.
This is one of my all time favorite BMWs. I’m really interested to see what the ending bid is on this piece of classic German muscle.

1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S “Flachbau” For Sale on eBay
Porsches of this era are some of my favorites, and I thought I knew of most of the special models. Like the 3.6 Turbo S of the era. But this interesting slant isn’t one that I was familiar with. It’s not the usual slant-nose with pop-up lights, but more like a 928/968 style that is exposed and raises up when lit. Frankly it looks a bit aftermarket, but it was actually a rare factory option referred to as Flachbau. Apparently there were less than 100 made for the entire world, and only about 40 came to the U.S.
Check out this very rare , offered by Manhattan Motor Cars

quote from seller’s auction:
One of a very limited series of the last hand built 911 Porsches (76 total worldwide production), it is only befitting that this rarely seen model is here in New York City.
The auction is a little thin on information, but as the $150,000 opening bid suggests, only serious inquires need apply. With only 17k miles, this car is looking to be in fantastic shape and should fit into a collection very nicely.

1990 Porsche C2, 1988 BMW e28 M5, 1989 e30 M3 S50
Speed-linking the posts today because I’m swamped at work! Here we go:
1990 Porsche Carrera 2 on Portland Craigslist for $13k. This is a suspiciously low asking even with the bad clutch, oil leaks, respray, mileage, and low a/c. Then again, it will cost several thousand to correct all those issues. Is this just a case of a realistic seller? I didn’t they existed!
quote from seller’s Portland Craigslist posting:
I’m selling my 1990 Porsche 911 C2 Coupe, 5 speed manual. guards red paint, black interior in good shape, 113,000 miles, original non smoker California car, clean carfax, aero mirrors, cup 1 wheels (replicas), dual exhaust, keyless remote door locks, new alternator, new alternator fan and belts, new starter, new battery, Alpine stereo, new paint, some records, no accident history. Starts up and runs great, no smoke at startup.
Needs new clutch, drips oil a drop or two, tires at about 50%, sunroof works strong, but needs some TLC, center of rear bumper cover has 6″ round spider web in the paint, AC needs a recharge.
$13000 OBO

Two Very Low Mileage M3′s, $60,000 Each!
These two creampuff’s come courtesy of a BMW M3 Forum. One is an e30 M3 with 7k miles and the other is an e36 M3 Lightweight (LTW) with only 41 miles!

1995 BMW M3 Lightweight For Sale on eBayMotors:

Not to play that overused ‘economy’ angle yet again, but these seem like high prices to me in today’s market. On the other hand the owners clearly know the rarity of their cars and are counting on educated and wealthy buyers. Who knows when we’ll see examples like these for sale again.

The 38k mile BMW e30 M3 on eBay is finally No Reserve!
I’ve referred to this super low miles, Henna Red e30 M3 that’s listed on eBay a couple times. But it never met reserve, reaching as high as $23,900. With a no reserve listing, do you think it will generate enough excitement to eclipse the previous high bid, or will the crap economy rear it’s head with a sub-20k closing? Leave a comment with your best estimate of where this auction will end!

Stunning 1991 Porsche 928 GT For Sale with 5 Speed
Here’s a beautiful Porsche 928 I spotted on eBay. The GT model is a special edition and comes with a hotter 330hp V8, an electronically controlled limited slip differential, and the ‘design 90′ wheels. Take a closer look at this 1991 Porsche 928 GT for sale on eBayMotors:

quote from seller’s eBayMotors listing:
1991 Porsche 928 GT. This is 1991 928 GT production car # 2. Just 81,324 actual and excessively documented miles. Mint and original Guards Red exterior nicely complimented by it’s perfect supple tan leather interior. Fully documented since new and a former one owner car until ’06. This car has just completed a thoroughly comprehensive, mechanical and aesthetic 928 rotisserie restoration and reconditioning over the last nine months. You are now looking at a true concours condition 928 GT on every level. Agonizing attention to detail was paid to every last item in bringing this GT to it’s original and unmolested condition. It should also be noted that this particular GT is the only U.S. GT to be ordered with a factory leather instrument pod housing and factory leather center console. This GT will easily win all local and regional concours events and compete evenly on a national level. No expense was spared in bringing this already rare masterpiece back to “as new” condition. The entire body is simply perfect with absolutely no flaws. No chips, dings or scratches anywhere. Everything about this car is like new condition. Mechanically, the car has just recieved the following items; complete timing belt/water pump service including all tensioners and pulleys and all associated items, pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, both knock sensors, seals, powdercoating of the intake and valve covers, entire clutch assembly including the disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, guide tube, release arm, rotors, pads, tires, retro-fitting and reconditioning of the AC system both front and rear, correct Bilstein shocks, Bosch spark plugs and OEM plug wires just to mention a few. In addition, it should also be stated that the underside of this GT is just as nice as it’s topside. The entire car has been returned to it’s original, unused condition. It looks, runs and drives like a brand new 928 GT! Regardless of mileage, this is most likely the nicest and newest 1991 928 GT in the country.
I’m a big fan of the 928 anyway, but in this color, trim, and with the 5 speed, I think this looks like a great example. Current bid is just under $14k (no reserve auction) and 8 days to go. I’ll update after auction for the final sale price.

1988 BMW M3 w/ 38k Miles Back on eBay
I had originally posted this low miles e30 M3 on my other blog in August earlier this year. It’s back on eBay and has already exceeded the highest bid of $20,100 (no sale) from the last auction. Take a look at this 1988 BMW M3 for sale on eBayMotors:
quote from eBayMotors listing:
THIS IS REAL 38,000 MILES 1988 M3 ,GARAGE KEPT, RECENTLY SPENT ABOUT 10K ON ALL BMW BRAKES,TUNE UP,A/C, ECT. RUNS AND DRIVE LIKE NEW, NEVER WRECKED,CAR IS IN GREAT CONDITION
In my previous post, I guessed that the winning bid would be around $25k. Considering brand new M cars are apparently immune to the sales slump, do you think this legendary M car will find a buyer this time?

Two Porsche 944′s For Sale: Less Than 50k Miles Combined!
As a low-miles sucker, I spotted these two 944′s on eBayMotors and was immediately sucked in. As the pictures show, they are flawless covering less than 30k miles each. And they’re both for sale from the same seller.
1991 Porsche 944S2 on eBayMotors for $21k buy-it-now:
quote from seller’s eBayMotors listing:
This 1991 9442 s2 is probably the nicest one you will find. This is 1 of only 510 that was shipped to the U.S. in 1991. It comes with the upgraded 17″ Porsche cup wheels with Bridgestones all the way around. All services are up to date including the timing belt and the water pump, all shocks have been replaced, AC was just completely serviced. Everything works: electrical, lights, headlights, radio with EQ, all knobs and switches. Paint is pristine with just a few stone chips on the front. The interior is more of a charcoal gray ( the pictures show it as lighter gray) all leather is still supple and in excellant (new looking) condition, no cracks in the dash, carpet is clean an new looking. All books, tools, Porsche Bra in its Porsche bag, Porsche air pump, and misc. porsche stuff related ot this car come with it.
1987 Porsche 944 Turbo on eBayMotors for $19.5k buy-it-now:
quote from seller’s eBayMotors listing:
This is a 1987 944 turbo with only 26,000 miles. It has all documents from new. Original window sticker, original sales invoices from new, original dealer paperwork from new, original 1987 Porsche 944 turbo dealer brochure in full color aprox. 15″x 15″ and all mechanical service receipts from day one. Timing belt service was completed, and all services are up to date. If you are looking for a PRISTINE “Collector Quality” 944 Turbo, then you have found it. This 944 Turbo is as nice as the photos, no paint work, no scuffs no dings dents, just simply a well preserved 944 Turbo. Im in Bonita Springs Florida. We have an international airport here. If this car isn’t as nice as described, I will pay for your flight. If you choose not to fly and truck the car to your home, I will refund you purchase price and shipping charges if this car is not as represented.
I realize the prices are steep, but the pictures really seem to demonstrate two really clean and original cars. Those interior pictures could be from a brochure. Considering these cars are practically new, they could be considered a cheap means to nearly new Porsche ownership compared to the MSRP of today’s new Porsches!

1978 BMW e21 320i with 3.2L Big Six Swap: Is This Really the Second Car Dinan Ever Built?
This eBay auction for a red 87 BMW 333i swap states that is the second car the Dinan ever converted! Check it out here on eBayMotors with a buy-it-now of $8k!

quote from seller’s eBayMotors listing:
For those of you who know, this car needs no introduction. For those of you who don’t, this is the BMW tuner DINAN’s second car ever built.
1978 BMW e21 320i converted to 333i
Approximately 35,000 miles on the original odometer. The car came with a certificate of authenticity/validity of the odometer, but the OD stopped working shortly after purchase. This car has never been a daily driver though, so current mileage estimates are probably no more than 50k. The certificate is no longer available.
3.2L Turbo charged M30 “big six” motor, non-intercooled, no BOV or DV valve.
The turbo is a t3/t4 hybrid, currently boosting 9psi with full boost achieved at 2500 rpms
I’ve been following a discussion on BimmerForums about the car and most in the know agree it’s worth $8k, even if the pictures and exact details aren’t perfect. While I agree in terms of the effort that took place to assemble, but the interior pictures are a little scary with seats that need recovering, center console with wires hanging out, and a sad and worn steering wheel. But it would likely cost at least $8k to get a similar car together, and this one is low miles with a history.
As a tuner, Dinan is so respected that their parts are sold and installed at BMW dealerships in North America — and they don’t void the warranty! So if this car represents the early history of the tuner, it could be a really cool pickup and should be a car that climbs in value with the continued success of the company.

1991 BMW e34 M5 For Sale in Red with 47k Miles
Stellar mileage on this very nice looking 1991 BMW M5 listed on eBayMotors:
quote from seller’s eBayMotors listing:
I am selling this car with a heavy heart. My first born is due to arrive on earth in March and so this is the only reason I am selling this car. Too many toys and this one is going.
About:
This is a 1991 E34 M5 US Model with 47,962 original miles to chassis and engine with matching numbers(the mileage will go up by a few miles as I drive it to keep it fresh). This car has not been modified in any way; it is one hundred percent stock down to the radio. There is no rust on this car. In very good condition with low miles.
For the most part the pictures show a great looking original car. The engine compartment could use some detailing, but aside from that, it looks really sharp in that red on light tan leather. I’d hope a car like this would have some records, but the ad doesn’t mention any specifically. But then the seller states right in the auction description that his reserve is only $17k. If a PPI checked out, I’d easily overlook that omission for a car with such low miles!
