1979 Porsche 930 – REVISIT

s-l1600 (1)

The Talbot Yellow 1979 Porsche 930 we featured back in February remains up for sale. The asking price has come down a good bit and now sits at $77,900. We’ll see if that’s low enough to attract some notice and see this Turbo find its way into a new home.

The below post originally appeared on our site February 1, 2016:

Every now and then among the browns and reds and blacks of the late-70s we come across something a little brighter. A flower amidst a field of earth. These colors are not necessarily a rare thing for Porsche itself, who has always provided a variety of pastels and other brighter hues for its owners – not to mention the possibilities available via paint-to-sample – but they are still very much outnumbered by many of the standard colors. And while we see yellow 911s with some frequency, it is very rare that we come across a yellow 930. Why we might find fewer turbos in this sort of color relative to the standard 911, I’m not sure, but it seems to be the case. Here we have just such a beast: a Talbot Yellow 1979 Porsche 930, located in Missouri, with 63,166 miles on it. It would be six more years following this model year until Porsche enthusiasts had the option of purchasing a 930 again, making the 1979 models quite appealing on today’s market.

Of course, when we put a lot of stock in a car’s color then we must have documentation to support its originality and we don’t have that here. That will need to be the first inquiry. We might also inquire as to why it was in need of a repaint though at its age that isn’t uncommon. It would, however, serve to provide some sense of the care this 930 has seen over its life since the ad does not specify much with regard to that history. From what we see now it looks quite good, especially that repainted exterior. The interior shows some wear, though nothing egregious, and has a non-original radio and steering wheel, which we frequently see. Without documentation the asking price is likely too high, but given the rare color and general condition I’m sure there will be plenty of interest in this 930. It’s certainly sure to turn quite a few heads.

The fact that this car is still available at this price AND with a best-offer option available tells me there’s either something wrong with it or at the very least there’s no documentation to back up seller’s claim of color/mileage/etc. What a sweet looking 930 though, man.
