Turn the clock back one year and nearly every classic 911 we featured seemed caught up in a whirlwind of ever-escalating value. Cars that had long been the standard for value-conscious buyers were now being snapped up almost immediately once they were put up for sale. It was clearly a seller’s market for cars that probably had been undervalued for a long time and we were seeing the market correct itself. Much of this craze affected the 3.2 Carrera, but values of its predecessor, the 911SC, also increased quite a bit, especially for excellent low-mileage examples. Sitting here now, the market has stabilized for all but the absolute best cars, which gives those searching for a good driver-quality example reasonable benchmarks for evaluating their options. Prices are higher than they once were, but at least in relative terms the 911SC still represents a nice value for those looking to own a classic 911. The example we see here is a 1982 Porsche 911SC Coupe, located in Virginia, with 106,000 miles on it.

I had my eye on a car fairly similar to this one over the past week. It was a similarly period correct color and the overall condition of each appeared good. It was an ’83 model and had about 2/3 the mileage in addition to having less overall work performed on it so we’d probably expect it to attract slightly more demand. The asking price was just below what is being asked here and the seller accepted the best offer he had received, which presumably was below but close to his ask. That all seems about right with regard to the asking price for this car. It feels high, though not absurdly so, and I think either car would have made for a good driver. We could do with some more information and slightly better pictures (especially of the interior), but otherwise this SC looks like it has plenty of years of pleasurable motoring ahead it.

Seems like a good value, with alot of the expensive cosmetic stuff taken care of. Paint, interior all costs alot of $$, this one doesn’t need any of that. As long as the mechanicals check out, this would be a great entry point. Good looking!
I came back again today to look at this. This color combo is great. I am not in the market, but if I were I would be on this one.
