1983 Porsche 911SC Sunroof Coupe

I was hoping to feature a few Porsches this week that represented nice value, but when I saw this one I just couldn’t pass it by. Here we have a Ruby Red Metallic 1983 Porsche 911SC, located in Massachusetts, with Burgundy leather interior (a fantastic color combination) and only 32,380 miles. The SC was the 911 model that really cemented the legacy of this iconic sports car and insured Porsche would continue to produce it to this day. By modern standards the performance from the 3.0 liter flat-6 isn’t going to knock your socks off, but the classic 911 design has aged rather gracefully and these cars still provide the feel and connectedness that so many drivers crave.

1983 Porsche 911 SC (Super Carrera)

You are bidding on a completely original 1983 Porsche 911 SC with less than 32,500 miles. This true survivor car comes with extensive documentation including: a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Porsche Cars, N.A.; a documented car history including the Line-of-Title from the original (I am the second owner) and service records; the original Owner’s Manual and Warranty book; and a library of Porsche 911 SC books.

The 1983 Porsche 911 Super Carrera (SC) was manufactured in November of 1982 by Dr. Ing. h. C. F. Porsche Aktiengesellschaft in the Porsche Manufacturing Facility in Stuttgart, West Germany.Vehicle Identification Number WPOAA091XDS120976; Type: 911340; 3.0 liter Six-Cylinder, Fuel-Injected by Bosch Engine Number: 64D1835 (M930/16); 5-Speed manual Transmission Number: 74D1916 (G915/63).

The interior and exterior of the Porsche are in completely original condition. It was finished in a factory-special-order Exterior Paint Color Code and Type: X7 Ruby Red Metallic that has retained its luster and shine with some minor signs of 30 years of age. The Interior Material Color Code and Type is VZ Burgundy Leather and is in near pristine condition.

Optional original factory-installed accessories include: “Porsche” carpet pads; Factory Tinted Glass; Porsche Alarm System; Electric Sunroof; Electric Windows; Cruise Control; Electric Side Mirrors; Factory Air Conditioning (as these units were never very effective, the unit is currently disconnected); Headlight Washers; the original ALPINE Cassette Deck, AM/FM Stereo Radio with Power Antenna; electric dash-mounted clock that keeps perfect time; 16-inch Fuch Forged-Alloy Wheels; Pirelli Cinturato Tires (removed and stored for preservation and replaced with new Hankook Ventus Performance Tires in October of 2013); Wheel Locks (missing one); Sport Shock Absorbers; Dual Rectangular Front Fog Lights; Space-Saver Spare Tire (original and un-used); Porsche Tool Kit and Jack; 160-mph speedometer; Higher amperage battery; US-Standard Emission Controls.

The car was reportedly stored in the spring of 1987, and retrieved in October of 2013. Extensive reconditioning during the fall of 2013 and winter of 2014 included: a new gas tank and lines; new 10-position fuse block; new fuel filter; new updated Bosch fuel-injection air box; rebuilt front brake calipers; new front and rear brake rotors and pads; reconditioned heater boxes; engine tune-up; oil change; transmission fluid change; new Sylvania Performance headlights; a new battery; and interior and exterior detailing.

The Porsche is presently registered for road use, has a current inspection sticker, runs very strong, shifts beautifully, and leaks NO oil or other fluids. To my knowledge, the Porsche is rust free. Mechanically, the 3.0 liter Six-Cylinder, air-cooled, Fuel-Injected engine is reputed to be “bullet proof” and capable of delivering legendary reliability mile after mile.

It is an extremely rare occurrence to find a 30-plus year old Porsche 911 SC with such low mileage, a fully-documented history, and in as original condition as this car obviously is. This Porsche is an actual “Barn Find” that all car collectors dream of discovering, purchasing, and cherishing. It is a current classic, sure to be a wise investment, and in need of a new Owner.

Good luck bidding!

Simply beautiful. This car has recently come out of long-term storage and had maintenance performed to fix many of the usual problems that arise when a car sits for a long time. It goes without saying that it should still be checked to insure everything is in good order, but barring any major problems this should be a SC that shows excellent future value. Bidding currently sits at $30,900 with the reserve still on. Given the low mileage and color I’d expect that price to come up, but with quickly rising 911 values it’s tough to say where it likely ends.

Wow. Thanks for posting this one. This color combination… it’s just gorgeous. And the care in prepping the car – it really presents well!

The storage issue could be a problem though. Its always a toss-up with beautiful low-mileage old cars whether a great looking package has issues related to sitting long-term. But at least on these older cars, the issues are known and addressable.
