1993 Porsche 928GTS

Here is a beautiful 1993 928 GTS. As you know, mint GTS’s fetch a pretty penny on the rare occasion that they come up for sale. In fact, I’d say that this is certainly the most pristine example to come up for sale publicly this year in the United States (that Midnight Blue ’95 5-speed in Germany that we featured about a month ago would be the nicest worldwide).

This particular example comes with a somewhat monochrome color combination of Polar Silver Metallic over Classic Grey leather. Breaking up the monotony is the eye catching red piping and rootwood shift lever, which were extremely rare options on GTS’s. Additional rare options featured on this GTS include Porsche crests in the headrests and a leather shift boot. It’s hard to tell if the luggage cover is also leather.

A quick search on the 928 Registry indicates that this car was last for sale at Gaudin Porsche in Las Vegas in 2002 when it had around 16K miles. According to the Carfax, it has lived in Florida, Nevada, and has been in Pennsylvania since the 2002 sale. I spoke to a very nice salesman at Marshall Goldman who informed me that the asking price is $89,900. Although that price does set (I believe) a new ceiling for automatic 1993 GTS’s, I’d say that this car is certainly worthy of it.

Despite the seemingly immaculate condition, there are a few flaws that I’ve noticed and that need mentioning. There is some wear on the driver’s seat bolster, speaker covers are missing on both the driver and passenger doors, the insert in the rear hatch release appears to have been pushed in (common, as people think this is a button), the front left caliper appears to either have been chipped or to have overspray (may be a reflection, but I’d recommend that interested parties inquire about this), the white illustrations on the window switches are wearing off, and the label on the driver’s seat belt appears to have come loose at the top.

Despite the flaws, as aforementioned, I think that the price is reasonable. There is likely a bit of negotiating room, and I’d start by mentioning the flaws in the previous paragraph as leverage to reduce the price a bit. Overall, though, this appears to be a top notch, low mileage and well optioned GTS.

    Marshall Goldman’s prices are always off the hook. GREAT cars, but absurd pricing.

    A neighbour had a pretty worn 928 I admired for a while. One day he let me drive it. Felt like a heavy worn out Camaro. Don’t expect this to be fun to drive.

    Bob: but which version? The hp varies quite a bit.

    I’d say it was an early version. The interior was also not holding together very well. Just a lot of parts that seemed to be moving around at the same time. Really did feel like a late 70’s Camaro.
    I am sure a nice , tight one on the autobahn is quite amazing.

    IMHO when you ask this much for a car (new high in the market type pricing) everything better be correct. How do you show a car for sale without speaker covers? Also, certainly a Porsche collector who will by the car. The car comes shod with Cooper tires. At this price a nice set of N spec tires has to be included. The silver Kenwood stands out not for being aftermarket but the color is different than the surrounding dash. All easily corrected items but unless the buyer must have this car I would think tree is room to haggle.

    @MDriver
    I would buy from Willhoit. I have bought, and so have friends, purchased Porsches from him and have had no problems whatsoever.

    @Audemars.. I like Willhoit’s stuff as well. you pay the correct price for the correct car…his stuff is usually spot on and he is the guru for 928s….every now & then I look to see if he has a 550 as his pricing and quality are really solid
