I like the E36 M3 sedan because it offersÂ the practicality of a four-door without having to sacrifice much, if anything, in terms of looks or performance over the coupe version. I tend, however, to veer away from modified examples when scouting out cars to write up for the site.Â There are a few reasons for this. First, I’m a bit of a purist at heart, and I think that cars should probably be enjoyed the way their makers intended. Second, many cars that have had their internals alteredÂ also sport grotesque mods on the outside; outsize spoilers and fiberglass bodykits and the like. Third, buying a used, modified car comes with its fair share of risk, particularly if you can’t authenticate the quality of the work that has been done.Â But this car caught my eye because it is happily free of external modification and looks very neat.

I like the menacing Cosmos Black over black leather color combination. I don’t like the rear boot spoiler, but it’s not the worst thing in the world and the rest of the exterior is unmolested and stock. Overall condition looks excellent both inside and out, and miles are fairly modest at 111k. The suspension has apparently been upgradedÂ to cope with theÂ modifications to the motor, which bring output to an intoxicating 460 hp. I’m very curious to know how that feels in an E36. I’ve never driven one with that much power and I’m curious to know how the chassis stands up to it. If you have any experience, feel free to drop a comment.
With mint, stock examples of these cars tending to go for about $12k,Â I think the $16k asking price is a bit high not outrageous.
