With the revival of the roadster in the early 1990’s Porsche decided it was finally time to introduce a new model, something the marque had not done since the ’70s. Rather than design another GT to replace the outgoing 928 and 968, Porsche went with a mid-engined entry-level roadster that would appeal to a wider demographic than the more hard-edged 911. With a 2.5 liter flat-6 and 5-speed manual directing their energies to the rear wheels the Boxster was generally very well received and sold like mad. While admittedly the early Boxster was a bit soft and a bit slow, flaws Porsche would correct a few years later with the Boxster S, it still served its basic purpose of broadening the Porsche audience. This 1998 PORSCHE BOXSTER IS AWESOME. IS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW COSMETIC AND MECHANICAL CONDITION, IS THE BEST ONE THAT WE HAVE HAD IN THE LONG LIST OF PRESTINE VEHICLES THAT WE HAVE HAD. Runs EXTREMELY good and smooth with no unusual squeaks or rattles. This vehicle is very responsive with no unusual noise of any type coming from the engine or transmission. Very good high performance tires . Tires are like new. Rims are in very good shape, . No door dings or major scratches observed. ICE COLD AIR. EVERYTHING WORKS AS NEW. The vehicle brakes straight with no pulsation or pulling. There is no smoke odor and stills smells new. The interior is immaculate and shows very minor, normal wear on carpet and factory mats. The leather is VERY GOOD COSMETIC CONDITION. The SEATS ARE in as new condition.
Mechanically: During my test drive nothing negative was found to report here. Drove like a brand new BOXSTER .
Cosmetically: Overall in extremely good cosmetic condition. Always garage kept car. The paint is shiny. The rims are NICE with NO MAJOR RASH. The covertible top is in immaculate as new condition, the window is clear and in perfect shape, this vehicle has always been garaged kept and has never seen rain, just FLAWLESS.

There may be no car in the Porsche range more unloved than the first generation Boxster. Like with the 996, the styling left many Porsche fans feeling cold and also like the 996 the early years had some engine issues. On the plus side, they aren’t very expensive so for those who prefer the styling, or simply would like a 2-seat open-top Porsche at a reasonable price, they can still make for a good option if carefully considered and inspected prior to purchase. At the end of the day, the Boxster is still a mid-engine rear-drive two-seat roadster that allows you to do the shifting yourself. That’s a tough combination of attributes to beat.
