2001 BMW 750iL

$_57 (3)

Mercedes has made an interesting tack, reasserting themselves as the kings of luxury and letting sporting dynamics become secondary. BMW is making interesting inroads in the green department and still produces very sporting cars, but like many automakers, their mission has become muddled. There was no question about where the E38 7-series sat in the hierarchy of the big boys though, bringing the most sporting looks and dynamics to the full-size luxury sedan segment. While the 740i may be the sportiest choice, the 750iL brought V12 power and presence to the party. They may be highway dominators, but today’s example has covered less than 50k miles and comes heavily optioned, including the excellent and Shadowline-including Sport Package. With a detailed and extensive maintenance history, this is the way to go if you’re interested in the 750.

This is an extremely rare, well maintained, accident free 3 owner BMW 750iL produced in the last year for the coveted E38 model. This is a non-smoking vehicle in excellent condition that certainly does not look like a 13 year old vehicle. Typically the 750iL model comes fully loaded with options but those that stand out to most enthusiasts are the sport package (m-parallel wheels & sport suspension), wood trim w/ rare design, front & rear parking sensors and security glass (all 4 windows are reinforced by 3x thicker than your average window which are shatter proof). The vehicle has extremely low miles and has been a California car all it’s life. Currently, new factory BMW 18 inch wheels were mounted but the original m-par wheels are included in the sale. Also comes with the 4 factory keys along w/ all books and maintenance records. No expense was spared when maintaining the vehicle as I am a perfectionist. Below is a list of maintenance completed since the beginning of 2012:

1. March 3, 2012
Control module replacement at BMW of Pleasanton
New BMW batteries
Synthetic oil & filter change
Brake flush
Differential fluid change
Transmission fluid & filter change

2. July 5, 2012
Replace all driving belts
Radiator system replacement
Upper & lower radiator hoses replacement
Main tensioner pulley replacement
Sensor temperature (thermostat) replacement
Cooling hose replacement

3. November 28, 2012

4. June 25, 2013
Differential pinion seal replacement
Center link (center, left & right) replacement
4-wheel alignment

5. June 27, 2013
Power steering hoses replacement including reservoir

5. August 20, 2013
Heater valve replacement
Washer pump replacement

6. December 16, 2013
Camshaft sensor replacement
Rear ball joint replacement
4-wheel alignment
Synthetic oil & filter change
Brake fluid flush

7. July 2, 2014
Trunk actuator replacement

Other options not listed because they essentially come fully loaded:

Rear automatic sunshade w/ manual side shades (all working)
Front & rear parking sensors
Front & rear dual climate control air conditioning/heating
Heated front and rear seats
Auto adjustable front and rear seats
Wood trim with special etching
Security shatter proof side windows 2-3 times thicker
Automatic trunk closer
Power side mirrors
Rear seat foot rests
Includes Weathertech mats
Wide-screen navigation
Only broken part is the cover to the OBD reader which is a part of the cup holder. I understand that this part is quite common. Please email with any questions. Thanks for looking!

It comes with Style 32s AND M-Parallels? Those are two of the best wheel options ever made by BMW and would make for a heck of a summer/winter choice. This is the E38 at it’s most grand, looking fantastic, sporting, and subtle all at the same time. The price is nothing to sneeze at and nearly double the Blue Book value. If the seller can swallow his pride and come down a few thousand, it’s a heck of a lot of car.

In steel gray, with the sport package and the style 32s, this looks glorious. Oh if only I had the money sitting around.

I used to own a 5 series BMW and at the same time a VW Westfalia diesel. Perhaps my last decade in Japanese vehicles has given me pause to ever reenter this German dreamscape. I just can’t stop trying to justify it, this 750IL is one very nice fantasy. I once was on a friendly first name basis with my German mechanic, the invites to his BBQ stopped years ago. Now with my vegan wife, would all the leather, BBQ invites and a new best friend be too much, never mind the repair bills?

assuming the car is 100% as it is represented…this is a SMOKING deal…
it ain’t cheap to maintain these if done properly.. everything is 2x…
I hope this goes to an enthusiast who will maintain it as it should be and not someone who has the buy money but not the upkeep money

I JUST GOT RID OF A 01 750IL WITH 48K. I ALSO HAD A 97 10 YEARS AGO AND HAD 75k ON IT WHEN I SOLD IT. NEITHER OF MY 2 750IL cars HAD SO MANY REPAIRS like this car. THIS WHOLE CAR HAS PLASTIC ALL BEEN OVERHAUL ED. YES THEY HAD ISSUES, BUT NOT LIKE THIS. EITHER THIS CAR WAS A LEMON OR IT HAS OVER 150.000 K ON IT.
