2001 Porsche 911 Turbo

It’s time to take a moment to visit one of the enduring performance values in not only the Porsche market, but in the second-hand market in general. Just about any 911 Turbo is a hallowed performance machine that can compete with a wide variety of high-dollar supercars, yet still provide a refined driving environment for the owner seeking a relaxed cruise. That refinement wasn’t always the case with the Turbo, but Porsche’s goal has always been to showcase both sides of its engineering acumen with these cars and ever since the 993TT it has excelled in that department. Of all of the extant models the 996TT remains the least loved. The first to have a water-cooled engine combined with a somewhat wonky appearance will do that, but the performance has never really been the issue. So while the model itself loses out on the market, buyers win. Here we have a Guards Red 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo, located in Texas, with a pretty reasonable 35,924 miles on it and a 6-speed manual transmission.

This is the one! If you’re looking for a clean 996 Turbo, look no further! 2 owner North Texas car that has been professionally maintained. No cosmetic or performance modifications on this car. The car has wear consistent with the mileage including a few small rock chips and the lower front spoiler (black) having been scraped. You get all manuals, service records, and both keys. No hazing of the headlights or taillights, not a car that has been raced or tracked, adult owned and loved!

There is a lien on the car, and the Texas title will be released approximately 2 weeks after the lien is satisfied. Payment by cash, or wire transfer is preferred to expedite the lien release.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking. I have been a Porsche enthusiast all my life, and this is my dream car. It has been my baby, but I now have a real baby on the way, and the car that, for the most part, sits in the garage needs to find a new home. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

I come across so many models of the 996TT in either Grey, Silver, or Black that when I saw this one in Guards Red it immediately made me sit up and take notice. Guards Red has had a long life in the 911 family so it isn’t exactly a rare color, but as time has passed these cars have become increasingly fleeting. On the 996 (and later models) I feel as if I almost never see one. From what we can see here this car presents extremely well. I’d absolutely love this with a Tan interior, but Guards Red over Black has been a Porsche staple and does possess a certain iconic nature. Bidding currently sits at $40,199 on this no reserve auction and while there are definitely cheaper 996TTs available, given the mileage we see here that’s not a bad price at all. And for the performance it’s still an absolutely screaming value!

Its pretty well discussed that these are about the best performance buy going these days. Its ugly as sin, the interior is cheesy, but its a frigging 911 Turbo.

Why – why – why – did Porsche screw with the shape of the headlights???? Their mistake was only equaled by Chris Bangle’s over size rear end treatments and Pierre Terblanche’s disastrous 999 design experiment.
