Believe it or not, March is here. Funny to say that since it happens every year, but spring fever is going to get hot and heavy. Especially since, well, you know the drill. With spring, comes convertible season. At least for us who live anywhere else but California and Florida. The options are pretty wide when you are looking for top down cars, but dollar for dollar, the R230 SL55 AMG continues to be one the best values out there. As expected, most of these don’t have many miles on them. Even with that, $25,000 buys you a decent example. However, this 2003 up for sale in Florida has an impressive 98,000 miles. Even better? It’s from the original owner.

The joys Florida living, I suppose. The supposed original owner managed to rack up nearly 99,000 miles in a convertible that has 516 lb-ft of torque. Usually when I see one of these with over 60,000 miles I get excited, but taking it to nearly 100,000 is a delight. I love the classic color scheme of Brilliant Silver over the red leather, along with the classic 18″ Turbine wheels. When someone says SL55, this is car I think of.
I’m curious to see where this one lands. All the comps in the market says this one should sell well under $20,000, but I’m wondering if the miles won’t make a huge impact on this one. The car is supposedly up to date on all the services, but I’m skeptical given how much goes on with these. They are solid cars considering what it is, but still requires an extra level given all that brings. Lets check back in next week to see where this one sells.

Beautiful car, but the suspension system on these are frighteningly expensive to maintain. Figure $10k to go completely through them, which should have been done by now, and if not, is going to be a “gift” for the new owner.
Seller needs to proofread his ads a little better. It is listed as a 2003, and then in the description it says “This is a beautiful 2009 Mercedes Benz SL55” I hope the other details about the car are more accurate.
with that mileage, it is a $15k car max
The 2006,7 and 8 are the best years, and the 2003 reportedly the most troublesome. I’d take the ‘06 P30 optioned one over this one anyway.
