Color is a big piece of the pie when it comes to buying a car. Sometimes it is the only piece. Today is one of those one-piece pies. This 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 up for sale in Arizona is finished in Pearl Beige Metallic, and what a color it is. To me, pearl + beige + metallic = gold. This is the first time I’ve seen a modern Mercedes-Benz in Pearl Beige Metallic and by the looks of it, I’m probably not the only one.

Oh boy. I’m not giant “tan hater” as I think something like Stone Grey is a little bit of a fun curveball in a world where everything is black, white, and grey. However, I don’t think I’d be brave enough for this g̶o̶l̶d̶ Pearl Beige Metallic. To me, it just looks like a bad gold spray paint from the hardware store. Inside, more gold! Well, beige to be technically correct. So we are looking at a Pearl Beige Metallic over Beige interior. No thank you.
It looks like there is no discount on this one at $18,000. I think maybe they might find a buyer in senior-friendly Arizona, but I just can’t imagine of all the colors, someone picking this one. Your thoughts?

All that effort to recreate the colour of bile and they go cheap on the Mercedes “Imitation Leather”. Cheap seats that are known to split more often than a drunk couple who decide to get married in Vegas.
I like this color combo. Much better than grey, white, silver, or black. At least this has some interest too it. Why the hate on beige interiors? They are warm and inviting unlike they greyscale colors.
And thomas you must have no experience with mercedes mb-tex. It is some of the hardest wearing upholstery out there and I personally have never seen mb-tex split like you say. I can only imagine the amount of abuse it must take to make mb-tex split. 100k plus miles and mb-tex still looks perfect on every car I’ve ever seen.
We just sold a 2011 E350 Luxury with 11,000 miles in this color! It looks a lot lighter in person.
Hi Ricky, not all artificial leather in Mercedes is MB-Tex. I agree that MB-Tex is superb. However even Mercedes differentiates between “artificial leather” (Mercedes description) and MB-Tex. They are not the same. Go to any Mercedes VIN lookup site and enter the VIN of the subject E-Class and you will see what I mean. I would add a link but don’t know if it is permitted.
Also, if you have time, search online for Mercedes splitting seats to become acquainted with the problem. Again, MB-Tex is not the issue, it is their sub standard AL that is flawed.
I don’t get Thomas’ hate towards this car.
Personally, kudos to whoever ordered this car when new and to any manufacturer for offering anything other than silver, black or white.
Oh BTW MB tex, vinyl or whatever you call it: I’ve NEVER, in 30 years of owning Mercedes-Benz, seen it fail with less than 150K miles and proper care.
If someone isn’t able or willing to do the research or actually read what I wrote about the difference between MB-Tex and Mercedes Artificial leather then you are showing a willful ignorance. By the way, I’ve been driving Mercedes for over three decades as well. I’ve had my share of wonderful MB-Tex equipped cars. However the Artificial leather that Mercedes introduced in the early 2000’s has nothing to do with MB-Tex and is differentiated by Mercedes officially. Details matter. As far as the colour goes on this E350, to each his or her own. The only opinion that ultimately matters is the Owner’s behind the wheel.
