Just when you thought the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R couldn’t get any bonkers, AMG turned it up to 11. Just to be clear here, the standard GT R, as if there is anything “standard” about it, was a car so bonkers and track focused that it held the Nürburgring production car lap record for a short time. So what did it need? More stuff! All that stuff seemed to pay off, as somehow they shaved another six seconds off that lap time without adding any more power at all. How is that possible? Lighter, stiffer, and more aero. That is what this boils down to. Production is limited to just 750 examples, and one happened to pop up in Florida with an impressive 5,000 miles on the odometer.

This example is finished in Brilliant Blue Magno with a whole bunch of wings and aero bits. Front fender louvers have been added a-la GT3 RS, and more aggressive front and rear aprons also have been tacked on. The suspension was tweaked a little with more Uniball spherical bearings, and the already pretty light wheels have lost more weight. Inside, the GT R gets an updated steering wheel and all-digital dash, something not seen on the earlier GT R examples.
Surprisingly, this one already did an impressive 5,200 miles. Because of this it seems, this one carries a really reasonable price tag of $180,000. Taking a peek around the market, this is cheaper than most non-Pro GT Rs currently on the market. I get that this car is a rough ride for the street, but that has never stopped extremely stiff cars for selling for big money in the past. Given this one is for sale at a Ferrari dealer, you can probably guess how it got there and how much of a bath the previous owner took on it. Either way, a rare beast that keeps getting crazier.

amazing hot rod with a factory warranty and performance even further out than the usual space shuttle like GT R… wow…
money after all as benny segal said is just dirty paper…
beautiful enough for your movie star girl friend to feel at home in and fast enough to escape the paparazzi, what’s not too like?
The ride. I can only imagine how stiff one of these must be. I test drove a regular AMG GT back when they first came out, and hated how overly sprung/stiff the car was. There was a comfort mode for the suspension but that didn’t make it livable. And sport mode? That was painful. Might work on a racetrack, but not in real life.
Holy crap, it is has turn signal indicator mirrors! Where can I get this marvel of engineering?
