2019 Mercedes-Benz A250 Hatchback

Welcome back to another installment of “This is how you get your car crushed.” This is a 2019 Mercedes-Benz A250 … hatchback up for sale in Bellingham, Washington. If you live in the US and are wondering why you’ve never seen these zipping around, it is because we were never blessed with him. You can see how having one of these for sale in the state of Washington could be a problem. This is very clearly a Canadian-market car that made its way down to Washington where it sits today at this dealership with a really bizarre logo that doesn’t give off any kind of Parteiadler vibes. Nope, nothing strange about that.

2015 BMW M4 Convertible Individual

Just a few weeks ago I took a look at an M4 coupe run through BMW’s Individual department:

2016 BMW M4 Coupe Individual

These wild colors have really proliferated over the last few years, and the result is that there are some pretty cool ones on the second-hand market. Case in point is today’s ’15 M4 convertible. It combines a neat color pallet (Peridot Green Metallic paint, Opal White leather, and dark red sycamore wood trim) with a manual gearbox and a convertible hardtop. Neat!

2005 Audi TT Roadster 3.2 quattro

VAG’s decisions on who would be able to shift their own gears have always been a bit confusing, but the period of the 3.2 VR6 is really where this came to a head for U.S. customers. In 2004, Volkswagen brought their hottest Golf (finally!) to our market, featuring the singing VR6 in 6-speed manual only form with the R32. Great, but Audi offered the same platform in slinkier TT 3.2 quattro form. However, fans of manual shifting were overlooked as Audi opted to bring the top TT here only with DSG. This carried over to the A3 model range, where you could get a 3.2 quattro but only with the DSG box.

Looked at another way, though, the crisp-shifting DSG was the start of a new trend of dual-clutch gearboxes that – until quite recently – were the fast-shifting box of choice. And unlike the R32, the TT 3.2 isn’t super-highly sought, meaning you get the (arguably) better looks, same driving and sound experience, and here…a convertible roof for quite a discount:

1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet

Porsche didn’t really have a lot going on in the early 1990s. For the 1990 model year, they had the 911, the aging 928, and the 944. I suppose you could count the 959 as well, but production “officially” ended in 1988 with a handful per year being made up until 1993. That means your options were quite limited if you wanted a Porsche but thankfully there was the 944 S2 Cabriolet if you coveted a convertible but didn’t have 911 money. Truth be told, I think the 944 S2 looks great considering what it is and the improvements that were made over the years along with an adequate inline-four that came in with slightly over 200 horsepower. After these became “old” cars, prices have stayed low enough that anyone on a small budget could swing one as long as they had a Porsche specialist in the general area that didn’t hate working on them.

Today we have a 1990 up for sale in Texas that seems to be up to date in service but isn’t exactly matching the asking price when it comes to the cosmetics of the car.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E450 All-Terrain

Who said cars were dead? In one of the more surprising moves I’ve seen recently, Mercedes-Benz decided to launch an “all-terrain” version of the E-Class literally called the E450 All-Terrain. It is the standard E-Class wagon with some bizarre black body cladding along with a 29mm higher ride height thanks to the Air Body Control air suspension and standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Why did Mercedes bring this to the US? Well, to cut into Audi A6 Allroad and Volvo V90 Cross Country sales, of course.

If you are looking for pure utility without buying an SUV or crossover, here you go.
