My wife used to laugh at how overactive the fuel warning lights are on both Volkswagen and Audi products; the V8 Quattro I owned would warn you with nearly 100 miles of range of your imminent fuel shortage. But of course at Autobahn speeds, at last few gallons can be gobbled up in minutes, not hours, so having an additional 10 gallons of fuel on board could be the difference between a large fine and a fine day motoring!
