Following on to the E320 Cabriolet we featured last week, here is another clean, low mileage 1995 example for sale in Maryland. This particular car has had both its head gasket and wiring harness replaced, two important maintenance issues with this model. For those in the colder climates, summer is just around the corner. What better way to enjoy it than with a cruise in this stately cabriolet?

By the end of the 1960s, the writing was on the wall for the original Volkswagen Beetle. It was slowly being outpaced by its rivals but still had its group of ardent fans. VW toyed with many ideas to replace the Bug and in the end, one design stuck: the Golf. With crisp lines by Giorgetto Giugiaro and a water-cooled four cylinder engine up front mounted transversely, it was the antithesis of the Beetle. The Golf would be known as the Rabbit upon arrival in the US, a name which would be resurrected for the fifth generation Golf in this market. This clean 1982 Rabbit Diesel comes from our reader John, who featured his 1983 Porsche 911SC Targa with us a few months ago.

From ambulance duty to the camper’s companion, this VW has cemented its place in automotive history. This T1 panel van for sale in Arkansas is done up in Porsche racing livery. After being stored for a number of years, this is a van that is bound to capture the attention of Porschephiles and track day enthusiasts.

2 CommentsYears ago, the thought of a twelve cylinder Volkswagen would have been unthinkable. What was devised as the “People’s Car†during World War II has now turned into a dominant force in the global car market, controlling a number of different brands spanning almost every market segment. The Phaeton was the car that took the battle to the luxury car segment directly to the competition’s doorstep, mainly Mercedes-Benz, BMW and even in-house brand Audi. While it is still on sale in Europe, few noticed on these shores and the car disappeared from the lineup after three model years. Now these large sedans represent a bargain if you are, of course, brave enough to battle the potential pitfalls and repairs that comes along with such a complex machine.
While most Phaetons had the 4.2 liter V8 under the hood, this W12 for sale in Missouri is the pinnacle of the flagship line for Volkswagen, with an engine similar to the one found under the hood of certain Bentley models.

1 CommentGiven all this talk of stock market fluctuations and an economic recovery that has gone through fits and starts, where is a good place to park your money? Time in memorial has shown that a Porsche 911 is perhaps one of the strongest automotive investments out there. While desirability has come and gone with everything from Hemi Cudas to certain Ferrari models, the 911 has always been on the collectors’ radar. With two generations of water-cooled 911s behind us now, the earlier air-cooled 911s seems to keep creeping up in value year after year. This triple black 3.2 Targa for sale in California is an example of just how long these sports cars will last if care if lavished on them.
