2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series

It often pays to be first. There certainly is true in the car industry as well. Especially when it comes to rare limited-production models that everyone wants but not a lot of people can get. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is turning out to be a perfect example of how much difference a year makes when it comes to pricing. Let’s take a closer look.

2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 4MATIC Estate

A few weeks ago I checked out a 2004 Mercedes-Benz C240 4Matic in wagon form and explained that you probably weren’t getting much Mercedes wagon for under $10,000. Today, I might have an exception to that loosely based rule. As long as you are okay with a few miles on the odometer.

Yes, this 2011 E350 4MATIC Estate up for sale in Florida comes in with nearly 208,000 on the odometer and doesn’t look like it is ready to slow down.

2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 Sport

The Z3, TT, and SLK were all popular and, in general, hated by enthusiasts for some time. But in each of their own ways, they had something special to offer enthusiasts. For the TT, it was all-wheel drive, turbocharged power, and a body that has aged better than most French wines. For the Z3, there was the undeniably sporty Z M Roadster and the fastest bread van in the world, the Z M Coupe. What did the SLK have to offer then? Well, the nutters at AMG decided that it needed a 5.4 liter V8 mated to a 7 speed auto. With 355 horsepower and enough torque to melt your tire budget like the proverbial knife through butter, these cars were the closest thing the Germans had made to both a hot rod and a joke. While the other two are like scalpels to carve up curves, this car approaches life more as a sledgehammer to destroy it.

Offering you a dose of SLK55 AMG looks with a more modest powertrain was the SLK350. You could tick the AMG Sport Package option, which for a few grand made you look like you had the SLK55 AMG. But the V6 was still good for 300 horsepower, so these aren’t exactly slow. Let’s take a look:

2000 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 4MATIC Estate

I love the fact that the only way to get 4MATIC all-wheel-drive on the W210 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG was to buy it in wagon form. Not just any wagon, as some were still rear-wheel drive, but rather you had to option one with 4MATIC. Naturally, this is a huge deal for traction given the massive amount of torque these and also for usability given this is a wagon after all. This 2000 up for sale outside of Zürich seemed to take advantage of that usability judging by the number of miles it racked up.

2019 Mercedes-AMG GT R

What do a Mercedes-AMG GT R, the red pig, and Ferris wheels all have in common? Let me try to explain. This 2018 AMG GT R up for sale in Düsseldorf pays tribute to the 1971 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG that ran at the 1971 24-hour race at Spa. What does that have to do with Ferris wheels? Apparently, there were 5 of these tributes produced by design company Bussink. Who is Bussink? They are a leading designer of giant Ferris wheels and similar structures for over 25 years and produced more than 60 giant wheels. I guess they got a little bored of designing Ferris wheels are now they are doing engineering and design work on Mercedes-Benz with their blessing. Can’t say I blame them. Now one of these is up for sale to the public and oh boy is it expensive. I was not prepared for this price.
