3 Porsche 911RS Hotties For Sale: 1 Real One and 2 Clones

Since the real deal is well out of my range (real or imaginary), I have to wonder if these two clones measure up 80-90% of the way for a fraction of the price. I guess it comes down to your nature: investor or enthusiast, because an investor wouldn’t drive the real thing as hard or as often as it should be. As it was intended.

The real deal: 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Coupe Touring Coupe on eBayMotors being offered by Ooely and Blackburn of Indianapolis:

While a collector that could afford the real 911RS would argue otherwise, I’d challenge the buyer to hit a dozen track days a year and drive the car as intended to prove their allegiance!

I’m Bored: 2007 Ruf 3400K Coupe 25th Anniversary Edition Coupe

I usually post modern classic German sports car and sport coupe classifieds on this blog that the everyman could likely attain and afford to maintain, upgrade, and enjoy. But nothing really tickled my fancy tonight, so I decided to look upmarket. That’s when I stumbled on this stunning Ruf 3400K for sale on eBaymotors:

1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S ‘Silver Rose’: One of the most Rare 951 Configurations

With less than 400 cars produced in this special color combination, it is always a car that makes you take notice when they become available for sale. Definitely one of the most sought after amongst Porsche 951 enthusiasts. Take a look at this 88 Porsche 951 Silver Rose on Roadfly:

Euro Spec 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo For Sale

Wow, there’s not much not to like on this great looking car. Low miles, gray over tan, beautiful upgrade rims, and rare European specification import make this car highly desirable to the Porsche 951 enthusiast. Here’s a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo For Sale on eBaymotors:

This 951 has only had 2 owners. The first owner was a physician who purchased the car in Europe and brought it to the United States. The VIN is WP0ZZZ95ZGN101375. This car is 1 of only 2,760 944 Turbos produced for the rest of the world (ROW) in 1986!!! By comparison, there were about 3 times as many US spec 944 Turbos produced in 1986. The European versions had the highly desirable streamlined rear bumper and front fenders with marker lights in them (see photos). The most interesting feature on this car is the instrument cluster. The warning lights are written in German!!!

This car comes with the original European Delivery documents which consist of a Porsche Touring Pass and another book which appears to be a travel guide and is written entirely in German. I have included a photo of both of these items in their original plastic case. They are in pristine condition. The car also comes with the original First Aid kit (never used) which is also written in German.

This car was specially ordered from the factory with a single sport seat which is confirmed by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The car has the following option codes: C00 (Eurospec emissions), M74 (touring package), 197 (heavy duty alternator and higher amperage battery), 261 (passenger mirror – electric, heated and adjustable), 418 (protective side moldings), 431 (4 spoke leather sport steering wheel), 533 (alarm system), 573 (air conditioning) and 650 (removable sunroof).

This 951 was well maintained and comes with the original books, including the stamped service book, and a binder of receipts. All of the important maintenance and updates have been performed and documented.

There’s a little wear detailed in the ad, but none of which detracts that much from what, in my mind, is a really cool and rare example. I’ll update after the auction ends. 3 days to go and currently reserve not met at $6100.

1990 Porsche Carrera 2 For Sale: Great Looking Car Under $20k!

I came very close to buying this car, but having just announced the formation of MotoringBlogs and a change in eventual career, it’s really not the right time. And it’s killing me. My much younger 18 year old self is going kick my own ass for this, but I need to hold off just a little longer — especially in this economy.

1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S For Sale in White on Black

The gap between average-to-good condition 944 Turbo’s and pristine-and-maintained examples is about a mile wide. I’ve listed the prior a few times, but once in a while, one of the latter comes out from hiding. And judging from the seller’s $15k asking, it appears he knows what he has.

Porsche DP 935 Turbo: Previously Owned by Mario Andretti and Pete Rose

I’m a product of the 80’s, so sue me if the styling doesn’t fit everyone’s palette. I think this thing is rad! Check out this 1982 Porsche modified by DP Motorsports with 935 slant nose, aero package, and turbo modifications, listed for sale on Pelican Parts For Sale Forum:

The list goes on and on… and all work was performed by Weissach Performance here in Vancouver. The car has been meticulously maintained over the past 4 years that I’ve owned it, with no expense spared.

It has 2 Sparco Milano seats in it, but the original Sport Seats (non-powered) and rails come with it.

The original wheel fans come with it. 2 years ago I had the BBS wheels refinished and the wheel fan attachment points properly helicoiled. It also comes with 17×7.5 and 17×9 Cup 1 wheels.

The rear tires are special order (345/35/r15’s), and take about 3 months to be delivered, but I have 2 brand new ones that will come with it.

This car has a hefty premium over garden variety Porsche 930 turbo’s, but I suspect DP modified cars would typically trade hands in this neighborhood with those in the know. At $55k, what do you think? Leave a comment!

Another car that my Dad and I have a weakness for. After all, this was supposed to be the successor to the 911 when first penned in the mid 70’s. While it obviously didn’t end up being the replacement, it still demonstrates the forward thinking and engineering prowess of Porsche to design a car in the 70’s that continued to sell from 1977 to 1993. There isn’t anything quite like it and in person it still draws me in like a magnet.

Naturally the Porsche 928 should be regarded like a used e32 7 series BMW: More features equals more to break. But when service history is documented and a PPI checks out, and you’ve always wanted one, well, time to negotiate with the wife again!
