Low-mileage 1988 BMW 528e

IMG_6840

The long, low and mean add-ons of the 535is and M5 are what initially drew me to the E28, but after having spent so much time with it admiring the unique lines I find myself caught by even the most bunk examples. Yesterday a car in my mirror caught my eye, a car that came out of the factory exactly like this one. As it passed, I was a little sad that the paint was entirely sun-damaged, but still sent the owner some “I like that you drive an E28!” vibes.

While that car showed a hard life left in the sun, this car has no such history. Inside and out, this tan-on-tan base model 5er looks like we’re still waiting for the 90s to arise (or sink in, rather…). It’s yet another example of how nice it can be to soak in a completely original and well cared-for 80s car even when it’s not the rarest or fastest. This is certainly neither of those things, with the efficiency-before-power Eta engine and a slush box, but it would still be a joy to drive and own.

You are looking at an exceptionally rare BMW 528E, great looking sporty and luxury. The vehicle has been made and assembled entirely in Germany, and consists only of Germany made parts! The tan interior + gold exterior is a very popular combination gives the car a certain kind of unique classy sporty and aggressive appeal.

From the way the car drives and looks and the year of the vehicle – most of the miles on the car are highway miles. The car has been garage kept. There are no reported manufacturer’s defects on this vehicle. A never-smoked-in before beauty that looks great and smells clean.

The engine is very strong and provides the power you have come to expect from a BMW and runs extra smooth. The transmission has the BMW mark on it as well and the transmission is in great condition! The suspension that’s on the car feels very nimble and comfortable at the same time.

The A/C works well and blows cold air! We had our mechanic check the car. All in all, the car really runs great! All the electrical options appear to be in working order.

As you can judge for yourself from the pictures – the interior is clean and looks great!

The check light of the diagnostic computer reads ok. The engine compartment clean, and free of any leaks.

This is an exceptionally looking vehicle – Loaded with tons of extras and is in great condition.

The price is very high for a 528e, even with just 71k miles. I dig the cloth interior and can imagine daily driving this thing for decades to come, but there are just too many other good options at the $10k mark. You’d have to really be looking for a great 528e and nothing else to spend that much here. But if a lower offer can be agreed upon, you’re going to have a great time capsule that doesn’t have to sit in the garage.

Nice car. They have it for sale for a while. Looks clean and original (some of the photos reveal shading inconsistency in the paint, but that could also be the light angle). That being said, 10k is a lot of coin for a 528e autotragic with fabric interior. At half that ask (I will pay a premium for low mileage and condition, if the car is what it appears to be) this is a nice car.
