2003 BMW M3 Individual

In my search for an E46 M3, one thing became quite clear – finding uncommon colors in good shape was very difficult. When you start to look at the color breakdown of the 2001-2006 M3s imported, it soon becomes clear why. According to the M3 Portal, some 5,853 coupes were ordered in Titan Silver Metallic – basically, one out of every 5 coupes in the U.S. is this color. A further 4,700 are Carbon Black, about 3,400 are Black and and nearly 3,000 are Silver Gray. See where we’re going? A full 60% of E46s were either silver-gray or black, and a further 10% were eaten up by Alpine White or Steel Gray. So only 30% – about 7,500 in total, broken up between the eight stock colors, with a minority – only 321, or just over 1% – being special ordered through BMW Individual. Some of the Individual colors are just about that, with about 30 different shades being selected. For example, there is one Malachite Green Metallic E46 M3 kicking around the U.S. somewhere. But today’s color was a much more popular selection, though it bookends E46 production. Available on the E36 and back by popular demand on the new 3-series, Estoril Blue Metallic certainly looks great on the lines of the E46, and this is one of a reported 58 imported in this color:

Tuner Tuesday – El Benzamino: 1988 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL Pickup

Every once in a while I see something that’s so horribly wrong it’s somehow right, and when it comes to 1980s German tuning there was plenty to go wrong. But while some wrong is predictable (I’m looking at you, Keonig Testarossa strakes on everything), sometimes the very wrong is unpredictable. Take today’s unassuming 1988 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL. I’d like to think when it was conceived and born, no one in Germany would have thought “Do du what we can do with this know?” and then sketch out a 2-door pickup truck. No, that takes American know-how and strategery. And if you were going to do it, why not do it poorly? As in, take a mid-range model (so not cheap, but also not as powerful as it could be!), make a very awkward transition to the bed which, by the way, doesn’t have a tailgate, adorn said unusable bed with plenty of diamond plate and then throw in some extra taillights for good measure? And then make it two-tone and fit some later model AMG wheels. Yet, again, somehow this goes so full-on horrible that it becomes kitschy. This is dogs playing poker art for cars:

2013 Volkswagen Transporter “56 Years Last Edition”

Fellow GCFSB contributor Nate features a lot of Volkswagen people movers, many of which are the T2 like you see here. However, most people are not aware that this particular Volkswagen just ceased production. That’s right, you could buy a new Volkswagen T2 Transporter in certain markets up until 2013. To mark the end of this very long production run, VW decided to commemorate the event with a special edition model, “56 Anos Kombi Last Edition.” Fifty six years. More than half a century with minimal changes. Outlasted the beloved Beetle. That’s just a few points the T2 notches up on its resume. This example of the ultimate T2 for sale in Monaco has yet to cross the 2,000 mile mark, so for those who can register this van legally in their country, you have one more chance to buy a new Bus.

2002 Porsche 911 Turbo

For as frequently as we come across a Guards Red 911 or a 996TT, it is surprising how infrequently we come across the two in one package. Guards Red seems to have fallen out of favor as we moved through the ’90s and into the 2000s. Seeing a new one is almost unheard of. But here we have one of the few: a Guards Red 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo, located in Georgia, with only 12,855 miles on it. Like any 996TT the performance per dollar is going to be mind blowing, but it’ll be interesting to see if the seemingly rare exterior color plus low mileage manages to push this one a bit higher. How much has the market taken notice of these supercar bargains?

Feature Listing: 1999 BMW M3 Convertible

It seems as if winter decided to hang on for another weekend on the east coast of the United States this week. However, summer will be here before we know it and with it comes the desire for open top motoring. This 1999 BMW M3 for sale in Arlington, Virginia is on offer from the second owner who has had the vehicle in his possession since it was a year old. While the M3 Convertible might not be the first choice for the hardcore //M enthusiast, this one is perfectly suited for those lazy jaunts to the beach, especially since these E36 convertibles have more than adequate rear seat and trunk space for those weekend jaunts to the beach.
