1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 4

Another car showcased with beautiful photography. I love it! I can’t be the only one that spends extra time going over the details of a car simply because it’s been presented well so I’m not sure why more sellers don’t do something like this. Anyway, this car also happens to have quite a few details to peruse so in this case the extra time is needed. Here we have a Black 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Coupe, located in Oregon, with Black and Tan interior and 91,204 miles. So we have a nice looking 964 that comes from the very first year of the Carrera 4’s existence. From there things get quite a bit more interesting. The engine is now a 3.8 liter with Carrera RS spec clutch and flywheel. That extra power is brought to a halt using “Big Red” calipers and rotors and controlled by a suspension upgraded to Carrera Cup trim. The interior has been kept mostly stock with the exception of Recaro seats and 5-point harnesses to keep the driver and passenger securely in place. All together, a car that looks really nice and should perform very well!

Wagon Week: 1990 BMW 325ix Touring

00808_hEt0YRcwx8D_600x450
E30 Tourings are coming across with greater regularity, and we’ve been documenting the increase in immigration. No longer are they subject to endless hoops and finagling involving Canada, a European relative, and several thousand dollars. No, the glory days of the E30 wagon are nigh, and today we have an exciting rarity. The 325ix sedan is a cool car in its own right, but an E30 wagon with all-wheel drive and the flared arches is ice cold. I’ve seen good examples of these in Germany, but this one has made the transatlantic voyage and is in my hometown of Seattle, WA, making it that much more tempting. With few listed issues and low miles, this is a very hot wagon.

1989 BMW 324TD Touring – REVISIT

As we start to finish up Wagon Week, let’s take a look at a car that’s been arriving on these shores at a solid clip now that many of them have reached 25 years old: the E30 Touring. But this Touring is a bit unique in that it is powered by the 2.4 liter turbo diesel engine. We featured this particular car earlier in the year and now it is back on offer, a perfect curiosity for oil burner BMW fan.

1989 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Syncro Hightop

$_57
Syncro Westies are a special breed, but today’s Vanagon is cut from an interesting cloth – or lack thereof. While most Westfalias’ tops popped up with a cloth tent, later models like this example could be had with a plastic high-top. What is lost in aerodynamics is gained in weatherproofness, creating a cozy loft and more mounting space for the rack-loving van crowd. While the top sticks out, the overall aesthetics are upgraded but pleasantly subtle, with upsized steel wheels, the great South African grille/light combo and tough bumpers blending into the colorless white/black scheme. The more I look at it, the more I love this van, and we haven’t even gotten to the mechanicals! Those are as good as they get, with an upgraded turbodiesel and Syncro four-wheel drive. No reserve will make this a fun auction to watch, though the low mileage and strong option and upgrade lists will probably take it out of most people’s price range.

1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

It seems as if the R107 SL is fast becoming the next hot classic from Mercedes-Benz, with values increasing steadily, if not quickly, over the last couple of years. The most preferred models in the US tend to be the late production 560SLs, manufactured from 1986 through 1989, bringing to a close one of the longest production runs in Mercedes-Benz history. This Smoke Silver 1989 560SL is one of the nicest I’ve seen in quite some time, complimenting that impressively presented 300TD we featured earlier today for Wagon Week.
