2015 Porsche 911 GT3

I’m going to follow upon yesterday’s Viper Green 911T by jumping forward a few decades straight into the depths of modern technology, all the while retaining that beautiful color. At least I think that’s what I’m doing. This paint-to-sample 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 appears to be Viper Green. We aren’t told the color specifically, but the look is right. I do always enjoy coming across modern 911s (and Caymans) painted in these colors. They add panache to an already alluring car and serve as a nod to those enthusiasts who’ve been with Porsche since nearly the beginning. And this one even comes in at a price a good bit under that of the 911T. There are just so many choices!

2015 Mercedes-Benz E350

Last week I checked out a W212 E63 S AMG Estate in the wild Dolomite Brown Metallic. Today we have another W212, but unlike the E63, this one doesn’t do 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds while hauling a load of drywall. This is just the regular 3.5 V6 that makes a respectable 302 horsepower. So what is so special about it? Well, if you haven’t noticed, it once again is the color. This 2015 E350 for sale in Charlotte, NC is painted in Indigo Blue Metallic and is one of my favorite modern Mercedes colors. It is a little bit of blue and a little bit of purple and a whole lot of awesome in my eyes.

Signal Yellow 2015 Porsche 911 GT3

I think I’ve been neglectful of the GT3, and that’s stupid. These are phenomenal cars. They are perhaps overshadowed by the more extreme GT3 RS and that’s probably the cause of my neglect, but really they shouldn’t be as their capabilities lie well beyond what most drivers can usefully exploit. And unlike the GT3 RS with all of its vents and wings the GT3 makes due with slightly more aggressive lines to separate itself from the rest of the 911 lineup. Well, when one popped up in Signal Yellow my attention was grabbed. Of the various yellows Porsche has produced, I feel confident Signal Yellow is my favorite. With Green, Blue, and Orange (really any of the jelly bean colors) I’m less certain and can sway toward one or another based on the model or just whatever has been capturing my focus at the time. But with yellow, it’s no contest. On a GT3 the color is brought to even greater heights as it marries its beauty with the superb performance of these modern 911s. Very little will grab your attention better than a long-hood 911 in Signal Yellow, but I dare say this GT3 does a pretty good job.

Gulf Blue 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Last week I featured a Glacier Blue 911SC that the seller mentioned as being akin to a lighter shade of Gulf Blue. Well here we have the real thing: a Gulf Blue 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS located in California. The Gulf colors have long been synonymous with racing figuring most prominently at Le Mans on Ford’s GT40 as well as Porsche’s own 917. Since those early days the Gulf livery has found its way onto a wide variety of road cars and on a modern Porsche there’s really no better option than to have Gulf Blue covering the lines of the GT3 RS. This isn’t as shout-at-you vibrant as Lava Orange or Ultraviolet, but for its link to so many historically great race cars it certainly should stand as one of the best options on these ultimate 911s. My only quibble: the wheels should be orange!
