Double Down – Vegas Style: 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus

We’re pretty used to the formula here: take a limited edition or special production 911, slap a neat color on it, and watch the price rise. Even brand new cars – ones that you can roll down to the dealership and order up yourself – are demanding a strong premium in the used marketplace. Insanity? A ‘bubble’? Bad economics? It doesn’t matter what the cause is, it’s the way life is for the foreseeable future.

But it’s not a trend which follows across the board. Take today’s twin Audi R8 V10 Pluses. The ‘Plus’ adds a serious amount of sport to the standard V10 R8, itself no slouch. Kicked up 70 horsepower to 610 and driven through a 7-speed S-Tronic it’s capable of sub-3 second sprints to 60, can obliterate a standing quarter mile in less than 11 seconds from a 5.2 liter normally aspirated V10 capable of spinning north of 8,500 RPMs. Both can hit 205 mph flat out. Both are presented in the searing shade of Vegas Yellow that will generate enough stares to make a GT3 jealous no matter how red its wheels are. . Both feature the upgraded 20″ wheel option and a host of other special carbon fiber touches that come along with the ‘Plus’ package. Despite being able to rip your face off and producing supercar performance from just a few years ago, both are also able to be used in a daily commute – even in winter. They’ll even return above 20 mpg on the highway. They’re astonishing automobiles.

And yet, both are ‘affordable’.

Look, they’re not really cheap. In fact, they’re massively expensive for any car, but many would argue especially so for an Audi. The sticker price on the V10 Plus is $192,000 before options, taxes and destination, after all. Yet with less than 3,000 miles on each of their odometers, this duo hasn’t appreciated like the 911 market – it’s fallen quite substantially. And don’t think I took the cut-rate approach here; I selected the two most expensive used R8s I could find from two of the most expensive dealers on eBay. And yet, combined their asking price is still $80,000 less than the 911 Turbo S Rob looked at over the weekend.

Viper Green 2017 Porsche Macan GTS

I won’t proclaim myself any particular fan of the Porsche Macan. They’re fine machines, but SUVs aren’t really on my radar so I pay little attention to them. If you paint one Viper Green you will get my attention. This is a 2017 Porsche Macan GTS. It’s basically brand new and being offered for its MSRP. It’s got a lot of options on it – to the tune of around $15K – so that actually makes this more difficult for buyers primarily interested in the color. That said, if you’re a huge fan of these early Porsche colors and don’t want to wait to special order your own Macan, or if this one is optioned how you’d like, then here’s an opportunity to pick one up immediately.

Denver’s only Family Owned Porsche Dealership

The Macan is a fairly sleek design with little extra bloat. It’s a decent bit smaller than the Cayenne though at over 4,100 lbs it isn’t exactly a lightweight. That’s not too bad for this class of vehicle though. The Macan does ride relatively low among SUVs and is easily identifiable as a Porsche through its lines and especially the front end. When I see one on the street it is capable of turning heads and this Viper Green example certainly should increase that even further. That size and weight doesn’t hold it back too much as the 360 hp delivered from its 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 makes the GTS plenty quick. Like with the current 911 it’s a turbo without the model designation, and only trails the Macan Turbo by 40 hp. So like any Porsche you’re getting plenty of performance for your dollar.

The GTS asks for a lot of your dollars and with this one you’re almost in 911 territory. As I said above, it took a decent number of options to get to that $90K price tag, but if you must have one now and don’t want the potentially long wait for a special order color then this is the time to pounce.

Paint-to-sample 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe

I believe this will be the first of the new turbocharged 911s we will have featured here at GCFSB. Newer models aren’t featured all that often here, mostly because they tend to be readily available, but sometimes we come across one that is worthwhile. I think this 911 fits that bill. Here we have a paint-to-sample Aetna Blue 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe, located in Denver, with Black/Bordeaux leather interior and only 1,345 miles on it. Aetna Blue is both an old and new color from Porsche, having first been introduced as a color for the 356. The new version is a slightly different shade so I’d be curious which of the two they went with here. Both are attractive colors, but obviously there’s additional historicity associated with the earlier version. That unique color is part of the allure of this 911. The other part is quite simple: this is basically a new car, but with around a $20K savings. Of course, you’d have to want all of these options for that savings to be fully realized, but it’s still a good chance to let the original owner absorb a good chunk of depreciation, while you take home a nearly new car.

This Paint to Sample, loaded 911.2 Carrera 4S is finished in historic Aetna Blau (Etna Blue) and has only 1,350 miles on it. It offers incredible value; its original MSPR was $153,265. It has been completely ceramic coated and the front has been clear wrapped for paint protection. Options are very extensive: Black/Bordeaux full leather interior, PDK, Adaptive cruise and Lane Change Assist, Rear Axle Steering, heated multifunction wheel, high-gloss window trim, glass roof, Burmester sound, 18-way Adaptive Sports Seats with leather shells, Premium Package (inc. LED lights, heated and cooled seats and more) and many others. We ordered it new for its owner, who is replacing it with another Porsche after thoroughly enjoying its many charms. It has never been in an accident or had any other cosmetic work, and is fully covered by Porsche factory warranty. This is an opportunity to save tens of thousands on a like-new 991.2 and avoid the long wait for paint to sample orders. For those who might have found the Lobster Red interior of the ’86 930 featured earlier this week to be a bit too garish, this Black over Bordeaux contrast brings with it a lot more elegance. It’s a really attractive interior and makes for an interesting contrast to the Aetna Blue. I don’t know that I’d have necessarily thought to combine these two colors, but they work well together. I’d prefer it were equipped with a manual transmission rather than PDK, but this 911 pretty clearly has been spec’d more as a refined sports coupe than as a back-road burner and the PDK does fit that ethos a bit better.

Much has been made of Porsche’s decision to switch to turbocharging for nearly the entire 911 line, but performance remains stellar and appears to have continued its evolution from earlier 991 models. While surely some buyers will care about the switch, the continued success of the 911 Turbo suggests turbocharging itself may be of little issue. If you happen to be one of those who desires one of these new 911s and also wanted a color that would stand apart from all of the rest, this Carrera 4S provides a decent bit of value. It’s certainly worth the time for further investigation.

2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4²

The Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4² is one of the craziest creations to not only come from Mercedes-Benz but the car world in general. I would have liked to have been in the meeting at the Mercedes-Benz offices in Stuttgart when they mocked up the 4×4². But perhaps it would be even more crazy to have been in those same offices when they decided to build these things and sell them to the general public.  The already unique G-Wagen had its ground clearance increased by nearly 8 inches and front track widened by more than 10 inches thanks to the wonders of portal axles. This of course was all to make room for 22-inch rims wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion ATR 325/55R22 tires that look like they belong touring the country at Monster Trucks shows rather than cruising down the street in your local (extremely wealthy) town. Now that these squared machines are starting to show up at a dealers like this one for sale in Florida, I had to dig a little deeper to check one out.

Fort Lauderdale Collection is proud to present this ALL NEW 2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4 Squared . The G-Class rises to new heights.

The G550 4×4 Squared is based on the 6-wheeled AMG G63 6×6 (minus one axle). Using an all-wheel drive system that includes portal axles and a newly developed variable chassis, this Mercedes-Benz has off-road prowess like none before it. Combine that with a new 4.0 liter biturbo V8 (416 hp, 450 lb-ft of torque), throw in some unique styling cues and top it off with world-class luxury and technology features and you have the recipe for the ultimate luxury 4×4.

This one comes in the absolutely stunning “design Mystic Blue”. This color looks AMAZING, and the AMG carbon fiber wheel arches and LED light array take it up another notch.

Features are too many to list here. Suffice it to say, this truck comes with everything you would expect in a Mercedes-Benz, plus features that are sometimes hard to find. Things like Heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats, massage front seats, GPS Navigation system, rear-view camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, Premium audio system, 115 v power outlet, 22″ wheels, power moonroof, and a lot more.

Please take a look at all of our gallery pictures, and feel free to call or email us if you have any questions at all.

I think these things are absolutely nuts. I’ve always thought of stuff like this to be only concept cars that you might see built for some quick publicity but in practice would be far too troublesome and expensive to actually produce. But not this one. Mercedes had to project that these would be snatched up as soon as they could make them by the ultimate “look at me” buyers who not only wanted prestige but the same driving position as a school bus. It’s not only the height that gets me about these, it’s the width that I can’t get over. Something this wide has to be a totally nightmare to drive in any kind of situation where you objects beside you. Heck, even pulling it into a parking spot has to be a process.

So what does this monster cost? You can pick one up around the $230,000 range, which considering all that goes into these, that’s probably not the worst deal ever. What’s interesting about this specific truck is that it’s not for sale at a Mercedes-Benz dealer despite only having 48 miles on it. Why is this interesting? Because that means it can be exported without Mercedes putting your name on their black list and telling you never to step foot in one of their dealerships ever again. Regular G-Wagens and GLs are extremely popular in places like China where prices might be three times as much for the same exact vehicle we get here in the US. So “agents” buy new vehicles from the US dealers then promptly put them on a ship never to be seen again. Mercedes along with other automakers don’t like you making money that way and getting their product cheaper elsewhere, so about a year ago manufacturers really came down hard on dealers who knowingly sell vehicles that will be exported.

Since this 4×4² is currently one of the hottest vehicles for sale today and any potential buyer doesn’t have to deal with those pesky authorized dealers, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if this blue monster was promptly put on a ship never to be seen again.

2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupé Edition 1

It’s been awhile since I’ve featured a new car and today’s car is a good enough reason as any. Mercedes-AMG rolled out the W205 C63 S Coupe Edition 1 as a road going tribute to the same car that competed in the 2016 DTM championship. This is great if you are one of the few people in the United States who actually watch the DTM but 99% plus of the people you come across will think you just went a little crazy with the yellow vinyl. But I guess if you are the kind of person who both has the ability to and wants to drop $94,000 on a C-Class you don’t really care about others’ thoughts.
