2023 Porsche Macan GTS

It always surprises me when I see paint to sample colors on seemingly ordinary cars that are made to be leased and turned in for the new model three years later. That is exactly what the Macan is because almost none one is buying the entry-level Porsche Macan to be a collector car that is made to be kept forever. That begs the question why spend $13,150 on a color when you know that this isn’t going to be a long-term hold. Yes, it is a Macan GTS, but when you see this asking price, you’ll have to ask why not just spring for a Cayenne GTS.

2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

Who knew it would be so hard to spend several hundred thousand dollars on a very niche car? In the latest episode of “Buying a new car is a miserable experience” we have the drama surrounding the new Porsche GT cars and people getting their feelings hurt over it. The short of it is select loyal customers are given allocations to new GT3 and GT4 RS cars only for them to be offered up on the used market for tens of thousands of dollars over what they paid after they took a few laps around the cul-de-sac. This leads to the salesman down at the dealership that sold the car to the owner texting threatening messages to the owner stating their relationship is over in the same style as 15-year-olds do when a member of the opposite sex is spending a little bit too much time at another person’s locker in between classes at the junior high school. I wish I was joking.

Today, we have a 2023 GT4 RS up for sale in California with actually a fair amount of miles on the odometer, a whole 717, for around $100,000 over what the sticker price was. Worth it to not deal with a dealer?

2023 Mercedes-Benz C300

Last month when the International Auto Show rolled into town I had a few minutes to sit in and play with the new W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. I’ve very pro-sedan in a world where they are all going away, so this was somewhat exciting to me. What I climbed into was a car that had an outstanding steering wheel and two screens, and the rest was a letdown. I was ready for this as a C-Class is not an S-Class, but the cheap vinyl, plastic, and generally “lightness” of everything was a real down. I really hate to be the “They don’t make them like they used to.” guy, but you are buying a price point with these cars now. I did really love that steering wheel though.

2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS models are finally starting to roll out and people can not get enough of them. Well, those who can afford them. Just to refresh, these had a starting price of just a tag over $150,000 and the sky is basically the limit in terms of options. Naturally, the Weissach Package adds a quick $13,250 and several other things you wouldn’t think would cost a bunch of money, but actually does. Then of course is the markup. On the secondary market, sure, you can expect that. However, a Porsche dealer retailing the car as new with just 18 miles? Wait until you see this asking price.

2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

Well, they are here. One of the hottest and most anticipated Porsche models in a while. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS. For everything the GT4 is, the GT4 RS is at another level. You know the drill. The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six makes a peak 493 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque, good enough to pull down 0-60 runs in 2.8 seconds. Those are hypercar numbers in a Cayman. All at a starting price of $150,000. Of course, that is if you can get one, which of course you can’t unless you’ve been leasing loaded-up Cayennes every 3 years from your local dealer since they came out back in 2004 as well as buying everything else that has been offered to you without fuss. Then maybe you can get on the list. If that isn’t you, then here you go. All you need to do is send the money…a lot of money.
