1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera

This is one of my favorite cars to come across: an Ice Green Metallic 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera. I realize that’s really specific, but the combination of the 3.0 liter 911 Turbo with this color really works for me and it always grabs my attention immediately. For my tastes this one is also helped by its Cinnamon interior, which has just enough darkness to it to provide the right contrast to that light green exterior. I even like the somewhat quirky and, in this application, subtle “Turbo” graphics that run the length of the car. I can’t really vouch for the seller’s claim that it is the single-most beautiful early Turbo to exist, but it would certainly rank highly.

1983 Porsche 930

I’m going to get back to basics today with this Black 1983 Porsche 930, located in Boston, with 48,997 miles on it. A Black 930 is a frequent resident of these pages and even for someone like me who really enjoys brightly colored cars these still possess their own singular allure. Of course, the 930 itself is far from basic machinery and provides a combination of performance and luxury rivaled by few cars in its day. While they are eclipsed by modern supercars in each regard they possess a raw ferocity that commands a driver’s attention and rewards those who master their sometimes difficult dynamics. A heavy does of rear power will do that. This particular 930 was never available in the US market due to Porsche ceasing to send them over from 1980-1985. But examples from those years can be had now and this one looks in nice shape.

2002 Porsche 911 Turbo

For as frequently as we come across a Guards Red 911 or a 996TT, it is surprising how infrequently we come across the two in one package. Guards Red seems to have fallen out of favor as we moved through the ’90s and into the 2000s. Seeing a new one is almost unheard of. But here we have one of the few: a Guards Red 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo, located in Georgia, with only 12,855 miles on it. Like any 996TT the performance per dollar is going to be mind blowing, but it’ll be interesting to see if the seemingly rare exterior color plus low mileage manages to push this one a bit higher. How much has the market taken notice of these supercar bargains?

1987 Porsche 930 Targa

I’ve shown quite a few Targas recently from all around the 911 range. One that I haven’t shown in a long while is the 930 Targa. The 930 Targa is pretty rare and outnumbered by the 930 Coupe to a fair degree. It’s also a somewhat strange looking example, but that’s a fault I find with any Targa equipped with a whale tail, whether it be a 930 or a standard 911. But for open-topped motoring along with a heavy does of rear-drive power the 930 Targa makes for a captivating experience and the one we see here combines interesting options with very low mileage to yield one of the better examples I can recall. Here we have a Guards Red 1987 Porsche 930 Targa, located in Indiana, with a rare Black leather/Anthracite Flannel interior and just 8,829 miles on the odometer. Prior to being sold this car served as a Porsche company car where it logged an additional 6,100 miles. All told, the mileage is still very low.

1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S – REVISIT

5e6c12c188_1024

The very rare Cobalt Blue Metallic 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S we featured back in October remains up for sale. The original auction was bid to $295,100, a figure a good bit below where we’d expect it to sell and far below the seller’s current asking price of $795,000. Given the rare color and other features of this Turbo S a high price is to be expected, but I feel like the more likely result will lie somewhere between those two numbers. That puts us pretty far away from a sale here, but for one of the more interesting examples we’ve come across we can expect that it will garner quite a bit of attention nonetheless.
