1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

I’d really like to shake the hand of the product planner who decided that today’s car, a 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera, needed to be offered in the shade of Amaranth Violet. Yes, this is not a paint-to-sample color, but was actually offered as an optional color for on the 1994 and 1995 model years of the 911 and 968. It’s basically as purple as purple gets and needless to say, extremely rare. Does that mean it brings an extreme premium over a less exciting shade?

2016 Porsche 911 Carrera Black Edition

Back in early spring I took a look at a 2016 Porsche Cayman “Black Edition” that was basically a bunch of options packaged together and given a random name. It was certainly no coincidence as the 718 Cayman launched the next model year, and it is no coincidence the 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera “Black Edition” was launched just before the 991.2 generation. Like the Cayman, it is a collection of options and some “Black Edition” door sills. Again, there were no performance additions or even suspension upgrades. Who were they trying to fool?

2001 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

Back again with a car that I’m unsure how even rolled off the assembly line solely based on the odd color combination. This 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in the smooth Orient Red Metallic over .. Metropol Blue leather? Yes, this is a dark red over dark blue car and I suppose it isn’t too crazy, but why just not go with black? Something different I suppose. The good news is that it isn’t all that expensive.

2003 Porsche 911 GT2

It is hard to believe that some cars that were already six figures have doubled in value over the past five years. Especially considering the hype around them isn’t all that much and the values of risen without much notice. Of course, I am talking about the 996 generation of the Porsche 911 GT2. Just five years ago we looked at a 2002 for 3,200 miles on the odometer for an asking price of $169,000. That car finally ended up selling for $154,000 and at the time, seemed like a big price for a 996 GT2. Oh, how naïve we were. Today, we have another 996 GT2 up for sale in Pennsylvania with just 3,900 miles. The price? I told you to double it.

2022 Porsche 911 GT3

Despite Porsche saying they are doing everything they can to produce as many 911 GT3 examples as they can, I still think there will always be more people out there with the money and will to buy them as there are made. They will also buy them at a massive premium over their MSPR if history has taught us anything. This 2022 up for sale in beautiful Beverly Hills, California seems to be following that trend. Although, you might be noticing something here.
