2001 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

Back again with a car that I’m unsure how even rolled off the assembly line solely based on the odd color combination. This 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in the smooth Orient Red Metallic over .. Metropol Blue leather? Yes, this is a dark red over dark blue car and I suppose it isn’t too crazy, but why just not go with black? Something different I suppose. The good news is that it isn’t all that expensive.

Truth be told, I thought this was black leather at the first shot, but the Metropol Blue comes in clear once it is in direct light. It is interesting to note this car had a bunch of options checked like 18″ Turbo wheels, flared rocker panels, heated seats, the Advanced Technic package, and more. Just 88,000 miles on the odometer which I would guess is about average for a cabriolet, although the seller does note this one is still on the original IMS bearing. There is some debate about the really early IMS bearings not failing as much, but just something to keep in mind.

This one priced at $25,000 seems like a fair deal. The run of values on 996 examples seems to have slowed a little, but gone are the days of grabbing one in the teens. I think if you want an early cabriolet, this is a good choice at a more than reasonable price.

Love the color combo….because why not? Most 996s are silver, so go for something interesting!

I actually really like it – for this particular car. The 911s of this era always seemed a little softer than other generations. This unique color combo fits the styling in my opinion.
