Following on to the E320 Cabriolet we featured last week, here is another clean, low mileage 1995 example for sale in Maryland. This particular car has had both its head gasket and wiring harness replaced, two important maintenance issues with this model. For those in the colder climates, summer is just around the corner. What better way to enjoy it than with a cruise in this stately cabriolet?

The mid-1990s were a turning point for Mercedes-Benz. Not only was there a change in model nomenclature, but more daring styling began to take hold and a wealth of new models, such as the SLK, CLK and ML class began to appear. The E class Cabriolet was the first four-seater convertible in Mercedes’ lineup since the demise of the 280SE in 1972. While thoroughly modern underneath, this was one of the final holdouts of 1980s design, barring the G-wagen, in the company’s lineup. Today, the W124 Cabriolet is the most highly prized E class of the time, alongside the high-performance 500E/E500. It may be in the middle of winter from where you are reading this, but now may be a great time to pick up a drop-top E class.

Comments closedOkay, call it wishful thinking, but as the “white stuff” descends on New England I think it’s a great opportunity to look at a the perfect winter car – an all-white Volkswagen Cabriolet. It wasn’t necessarily laziness on the part of Volkswagen, but a testament to the lasting appeal of this not-so-cheap but cheery convertible. Of course, if you were “Daddy’s girl” in the 1980s you were probably destined for an automatic version of today’s triple-white “Molly Ringwald” edition Cabriolet, but thankfully this example has an more fun to drive manual:

6 CommentsAt the end of a car’s lifecycle or when it passes a milestone of production, typically a manufacturer will offer a special edition model to commemorate the event. In the case of the Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera, these two events coincided in 1989, as the sun was setting on the 3.2 for the 964 model and 1989 marked 25 years of the 911. Offered in two colors, Silver Metallic or Satin Black, this was a limited run model that included Silk Gray supple leather seats, a center console covered in leather that had an outside temperature gauge and CD holders, front and rear spoilers, a shorter throw shifter and color keyed wheels. This Cabriolet version for sale in California has just over $50,000 miles and offers a rare opportunity at what some consider the ultimate mashup between the classic and modern 911.
