Here is another one for the “didn’t know these existed” file. What we are looking at is a supposed 2004 Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG “Tracksport.” What exactly is that? Reportedly the long-time Mercedes special projects wing HWA produced four of these cars based off the C55. This wasn’t just a random project, but rather the same specs as the DTM safety cars. A newer Black Series-style bumper was added along with a full roll cage, some fixed-back front bucket seats, and even harnesses for the rear passengers. To make sure this is a real track car, it is riding on some very slick Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires that you’d be crazy to take out on the public streets. Speaking of crazy, wait until you see the price.

Just when you think you hit are ready to swing for a home run, here comes a curve ball in the dirt. Today’s car, a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SL up for sale in Italy, is one of those curve balls in the dirt. Maybe more than one.
This car had all the ingredients on the surface to be ideal for me. A Euro-spec car in a rare green color, a brown leather interior, and a five-speed manual transmission paired with the M103 inline-six. Then everything fell apart once I looked a little closer at it.

1 CommentWell, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is here. The 2022 model year launched the W206 chassis, which is an all-new design inside and out. It carries over the rounded shape on the exterior and inside is a light copy of the current S-Class with it’s heavy use of screens and a waterfall-style layout directly into the center console. All the current cars are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 with a 48-volt hybrid system, which I’m sure will be easy to diagnose and repair in the year 2029. Three trim levels are available with the “Premium”, “Executive”, and “Pinnacle”, the latter of which tops out at $48,550. However, this being a new car in 2022 and not for sale at a factory dealer, you can guess the price…

4 CommentsIf you are feeling déjà vu, you are on to something. Last month I checked out a 1998 Mercedes-Benz S600 7.0 AMG and now a month later, we have the brother 1998 CL600 7.0 AMG. It is probably safe to assume these both came out of the same collection, and believe it or not, this one checks in with over 100,000 kilometers on the odometer. Long live the M120!
