Like the 1993 Volvo 240 Wagon we featured last week, the Mercedes-Benz W123 estate is a legend due to its durability. The Mercedes-Benz W123 estate was aimed a bit more upmarket than Volvo’s venerable five-door, combining luxury with utility in a package that is still popular amongst the motoring elite to this day. This final year 300TD for sale in California has crossed the 200,000 mark but those familiar with the W123 Mercedes-Benz will realize that kind of distance is trivial for one of the most legendary Mercedes-Benzes of the past 40 years.

The ex-Vlad 1989 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6 with plenty of modifications that we wrote up nearly two years ago has resurfaced for sale again. Offered by the buyer from last time around after covering only 3,000 miles, the asking price is close to what the seller paid. However, a few things of note – several items are no longer working, the bodywork is cracked and – most notably – the BBS RS wheels are an optional extra for $3,000. Has the W201 market appreciated 50% on a questionable example like this in a year and a half?

Comments closedWhen the R107 SL first debuted, few could have imagined this roadster would have lasted in production for another eighteen years. This transformative roadster placed more emphasis on comfort and luxury than “sport and light” as its predecessor, the W113 had. Somehow, though, the R107 struck a chord with buyers and became a symbol of status and upward mobility for years to come, appearing prominently in television series and movies alike. This 1972 350SL represents the very beginning for the R107, painted in a rare hue of Reed Green with matching hubcaps, complimenting the early, slim bumper look quite nicely.

4 CommentsFor me, the 190E almost defines the perfect Mercedes-Benz. I’m not a fan of huge cars, so the W201 certainly works on a size basis for me but still embodies all the great things I loved about this brand from the past, including timeless design, solidity and dependability. This 1991 190E 2.6 for sale in South Carolina has the tasty combination of the inline-6 paired to the seldom seen 5-speed manual gearbox. The rare shade of Bornit Metallic makes this baby Benz all the more attractive.

Comments closedI’m not a huge fan of television. The last time I was hooked into a series was around eight years ago, when the final episode of The Sopranos aired. Perhaps it was my northeast roots or Mediterranean heritage, but I could relate a lot to the characters and slang thrown around. Recently, one of the most visible vehicles in the show, the Cadillac Escalade owned by Tony Soprano sold for an incredible sum of $119,780. One of the lesser seen cars of the series, however, was Carmela Soprano’s Mercedes-Benz E-class estate. When the series began, she was first seen driving a post-facelift W124 E320 estate, progressing to a pre-facelift W210 E320 estate and then to a post-facelift W210, before moving on to an early Porsche Cayenne. This 1998 E320 4Matic for sale in Florida is similar to that second E-class we saw in the season, in the same Brilliant Silver over gray leather livery.
